Should the rear disc be loose?

The EBC 'problem' discs were removed from the shelf (allegedly) I had this problem last October'ish. It took me 3 attempts (and a word in EBC's ear!!) to get the right disc. The problem doesn't come to light straight away ie. the disc isn't loose when you first fit it. After a few brake applications it will be evident. In fairness to EBC they sent out replacement discs quickly and fortunatley for me I did the job myself so there was no labour charge as such.

Potentially a silly response if I'm taking this thread off on a tangent:

But is the disc really loose, or are you picking up play in the final drive?

With the rear wheel on, is there a similar amount of play? I noticed some play in my rear wheel (when on centre stand) and initially thought the rear wheel bearing had play, but there isn't a rear wheel bearing per se as the rear wheel mounts to the Final Drive. I discussed my "play" with BM and they said its normal...

No, defo. the disc loose...........as in the bolts stop doing up before they pinch onto the disc. Final drive is A1 :thumb2

If I can work out how to do it later I'll vid it and bung up on Youtube - the disc really is scarily loose

How about putting a washer underneath the bolts head to stop it wobbling, till you get a new disc?

Not a bad idea, hadn't thought of that.....................

However, I've just oredered a new disc (EBC :blast), bolts and pads from Motorworks (who supplied the original) as I'm off on my hols on the bike next week and need to get this sorted properly.

Having discused this with Motorworks I'm returning the offending item and will be pursuing a retrospective claim, through them, to EBC.

Don't forget to claim for the replacement brake pads you had to fit with the new disc (as recommended by EBC 'New pads should be fitted when replacing the disc') It worked for me:D

I've got the EBC rear disc on mine and it doesn't do that.

EDIT: Oh yes it does :blast

..well it has a slight rotational movement - maybe a mm at most.....it's been on almost a year...
