Any thoughts on pros & cons of silicone brake fluid ? Is it worth the extra dosh? Does it improve feel? Is it as hygroscopic?

Answers on a postcard.................

No it's not hygroscopic. This isn't necessarily a good thing. Water can still find it's way into the braking system but rather than being absorbed it will form small pools. This can lead to corrosion in parts of the system.

It's a long time since I used silicone brake fluid in a car, but at that time it was more compressible than normal fluid leading to a long and soggy brake pedal. Also, it wasn't compatible with normal fluid so you really had to flush the complete system and change all the seals.

fluid

Put synthetic in mine about three years ago,it's still the same colour as the stuff left in the bottle and the brakes still work the same as they ever did,so I have had no probs.Andy
