Hi guy's I'm looking at 1150 gsa's (had a 1200gsa lc which I loved previously an a 800gs which i wasn't mad on) dependant on when a bike I've sold gets collected in a couple of months (collector from abroad) an if I decide to sell my rd250c or not could push me in a direction of a 1200 or low miles 1150.

Potentially I could be looking at a higher mile single sparker bike I've got a few question regarding the single sparkers.

Anything to watch out for on the earlier abs braking system on the single sparkers

whats due maintenance wise at 60k.

Does anyone have any idea on the price of clutch replacement. Either for parts or getting it done somewhere.

Anything else to watch out for guessing the same issues the twin sparkers suffer with apply to the single sparks final drive wise.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

The earlier bike ABS is the one to go for if that’s important. The later models had servo abs which was electrically powered, but prone to failure (sometimes at very inopportune moments, like when you really need to stop quickly...)

Twin spark gave no increase in power/torque, but cleaned up the engine emissions to meet the euro regs.

60k is nothing major unless it’s spent those miles being ragged within an inch of its rev limiter. Give it a good rev and watch for smoke when you shut off the throttle. If it starts easily, runs smoothly and doesn’t smoke, buy it and budget for a full service in the price. Then take the bike to Roy Gardner at RGM and get him to give it a good going over.

Excellent information thanks Paul was always not sure what the reason was for twin spark it does sound like the earlier single spark could be a really good fit for me. I'm getting used to working on pushrod twins now as I've got a few Nortons Commando an a 650ss which I use as my daily. That's a good tip on the smoke though. I'll check out RGM hadn't heard of them.

Was looking at that before Luke very nice bike an glws :)
