There are so many chain driven bikes that have a simply fix of fitting new chain and sprockets. But if your happy changing or replacing your final drive which I’m sure is expensive in it’s own right.
You find so many people bling there bikes with the full Touratech catalogue, fitting full exhaust systems and power commanders and the like.
So in the grand scale your spending money on an item that helps preserve the mechanicals of your pride and joy.
The slipper clutch is used in so many motorcycle classes like Enduro Motorcross even Dakar bikes, not just road racing.
Ok so of all the people that say this is a bad idea and if you need it you cant ride a bike. How many of you have spent a fortune on all the electronic crap that BMW offer? ABS ESA Traction control, You don't need any of that either but loads of you will happily shell out 2-3K extra to have it
i have ABS as a fail safe. latest versions don't seem to either go wrong or interfere with braking. can't see a downside really, apart from cost.
in fairness, i suppose you could say the same about a slipper clutch.
i wouldn't have ESA (tried it, thought it was pointless) or traction control on a bike that struggles to break away the rear end even in the wet
I would disagree with you there, GS1200 is a fantastic track day bike, but not using your pride and joy. I have a well thrashed 05 just for track days. Its like on the road more fun with less top end speed.
