Another question. :aidan

Is is possible to say what are "good" SNR and attenuation values? Mine are 15 dB and 14 dB respectively. How do they sound?

You haven't given enough info.

If you have a Thomson/Speedtouch modem you can try sticking your stats into this website http://be.nfshost.com/

My modem reports:
xDSL linestate up (ITU-T G.992.5; downstream: 5771 kbit/s, upstream: 1226 kbit/s; output Power Down: 19.0 dBm, Up: 12.0 dBm; line Attenuation Down: 42.0 dB, Up: 23.0 dB; snr Margin Down: 6.5 dB, Up: 6.5 dB)

This is a big improvement over a few weeks ago, as BT have fixed a line fault. My ISP had to increase the SNR margin to 15dB to overcome the interference. If it is your SNR margin that is stiing at 14-15dB then you have a noisy line and your ISP is trying to overcome this, and your linespeed will suffer as a result. My linespeed has increased from 1.2mbps to the >5mbps you can see above
