And I bought a new bike while there, well it was delivered Sunday, so my first chance to really get to see what I bought, and as you can see it is a little stunner.
Sure there a couple of small items that will need sorting, Rear indicators, weeping master cylinder, being the most urgent at this time, it also smokes quite badly when it starts, but that soon dissapears when warm, I have heard this is quite common though, although I am not sure to what extent.

I intend to to get it booked into the garage though, and get them to give it the once over, just to be sure all is well. They can also fit a new seal set to the master cylinder while it is there.

Also there was a surprise in the storage area, Tool kit, new disk lock, new cable lock, and the fully stamped service pack.:thumb2

Is this the one that was up for £800 ?

13yrs off the road!

I quite fancied it myself and had I had the money it wouldn't be on your drive now! :D
:comfort

It was taken off the road and put into storage, then it was bought out this year, but the fuel pump had gone (common issue when stored) and the battery had failed, as you would expect. It was then taken to a garage to be reinstated, so they fitted new fuel pump, and battery, the owner then traded it in, so it was sold. It then had and passed its MoT, and was taken to Netley. I had a look Thursday night, and tried to sort out transport, and as no one else wanted it, I bought it on Friday.

I now have the correct rear indicators, and am just waiting on a master cylinder rebuild kit, because it has now started weeping since getting it home.

This is my first K series, and it seems quite nice in a refined "old Man" sort of way. It won't replace the R80 though, because a man has to have a proper BMW:hide

Bloody-ell.... England Kev!

what do you want one of those fangled modern bikes fer? :nenau

nowt wrong wi' an R80 man

hm

Good choice. K100RS 16-Valve is a K1 for those without the chutzpah to own the real thing. ;)

it also smokes quite badly when it starts, but that soon dissapears when warm, I have heard this is quite common though, although I am not sure to what extent.
It shouldn't smoke much on start-up as the 16-Valve onwards bikes had a modified piston-ring to avoid the old "K-Series Blue Cloud". Even the older ones don't smoke if kept on the main stand and it can be avoided if the bike is not put on the side stand until after it has cooled down fully.

Enjoy. You might even realise how much better than the Boxers the K-Series are and miles better quality-wise than anything BMW built after. :thumb2

Unless your K100RS 16V was made for the Australian market, the K1 camshafts and the K100RS 16V camshafts have the same part number.:thumb

Nice looking Brick - should be in the K Series section :D

Stood that long you may have to replace a few seals as well - not bad looking for 100K + miles though and mileage doesn't mean a great deal with these bikes.

Quite agree with that - I curently have 3 K75's - which they say is an even smoother engine than the K100 - but I haven't ridden a K100.

Once you really look into them, you realize just how well made they are - except for the mounting brackets for the S varient fairing - crap design. :thumb
