If he’s as deaf as I am from 22 years down the engine room, shouting will be the order of the day.How many years in the tank regiment? ie, how loudly will we have to talk? I said, HOW LOUDLY WILL WE HAVE TO TALK??

Guilty as charged M'lud. The ford at Moreton is quite wide with loose gravel as a base, often deep in places and can be deceptively fast flowing. I've seen a few bikes come a cropper there.
Most use the bridge.

If this is still going ahead i’m up for the friday & Saturday camping

I’ve a video recorded driving my Range Rover through the ford and a small inflatable paddling desperately to get out of the way ., anyway of me being able to post it ?

BullyI’ve managed it
Did you stand up going through it?I’ve managed it
Thanks for this info, I would enjoy a bit of TE Lawrence history. I'm already excited for this event...Only just seen this.
Thought I’d mention that I’ve done a couple of UKGSer day out rides around this area in the past.
If you’re going to the Tank museum then 5 minutes along the road is Clouds Hill, Lawrence of Arabia’s cottage, just before the cottage in a tank training viewing area set back from the road is a plaque at the spot where he was killed.
And another couple miles away in the village of Moreton is his grave.
If on a bike you have the option of riding through Moreton forest on a dirt road (fully legal, cars also use it). It requires riding through a ford just as you get to Moreton. The normal tarmac road is quicker.
In Moreton there’s the old school house cafe, great food, and the church in Moreton is the only one in the UK with clear glass windows that are etched ..
An old picture (one of Fanums , mine have all disappeared from my ride reports) of the ford at Moreton.. it is possible to drive a car/van through the forest up to the ford, and walk across the footbridge into Moreton.
