Software update and alternator symbol

Just been out and checked my 2016 bike before putting it on charge for tomorrow. It has the original battery and as far as I am aware, original software version. No battery light with ignition on (not running) and battery voltage showing 12.3 on the dash. I would say that is normal taking into account standard the systems powered up with ignition on. My bike had a 125 mile run last Sunday and the battery was checked by Williams Motorrad during the service last week, with no concerns raised. I did have the analyser print out, but for the life of me can’t find it.

Mine never did it prior to the update a month ago. Curious to know if they applied the latest update to your bike.

The ABS light has come on three times now but the battery symbol maybe six times and very random

Have you checked the battery terminal connections are tight? May also be worth checking the engine/frame ground connections are clean and tight.

Went back to the dealer and they found it was the lean angle sensor. When a software update is applied the sensors need to be calibrated again. The bike was on the centrestand but showing a small amount of lean. The tech cleared the error and calibrated all the sensors.

Funny thing is ISTA showed the sensor near the ABS unit but I thought it was in the tail section. If it comes back they will replace the sensor.

He said the battery was fine but I'm going to replace it anyway

Cheers for the update Fred, anyway batteries are a total lottery, depending on many variables, I have learn´t if not sure sling em

Time will tell if that was the cause but since it happened after the update it makes sense. Sounds like the original tech didn't calibrate the sensors properly.

Yeah not worth stuffing around with batteries and they aren't that much

Thats a fact, and batteries once they start showing a weakness, is a fairly good sign they will let you down at the worst possible time, I always carry an XP-1 battery boster in the topcase, and have used it a few times already, on others while out on the road, and mates calling me on a nice Sunday, hey mate are you anywhere around, they are usually within 100 kms radius because that is their usual round circle trip, and low and behold battery dead due to stop and start coffee stops, talking about Harleys :beerjug:

I'm going to get one of those battery boosters before my next big trip. Ahhh mates...always good for something lol

They are a life saver for many things, this is the one I have it is a solid bit of kit, and it turns Harleys and even my diesel Van 2.5 liter was easy, other cheap brands I would not vouch for, this is tried and tested trust me........... XP-1 is the best in my opinion, sorry for the MF video :blast
