Had my 6000 mile service on my June 2007 gs.
Had the brake pipes replaced as per recall they also downloaded some software updates they said it needed Oh and along with a new battery which failed the previous week.

Now I'm pretty sure the bike went better before it seems a bit gutless now if opened up hard in top where as before it never felt as though it held back.

Another thing as I stopped at a round about in Calais it just stalled it started straight away so wasn't unduelly worried but while queing to reach the train with one stop after another the temperature was getting a bit high which is maybe expected but it started surging while stationary from 1000 to 1500.

It did a couple of thousand miles around the Black Forest trouble free apart from the flat spot .

So has anyone else had this upgrade & noticed simila flat spot ?

Had my 6000 service done on my 07 1200GSA just over a month ago, had the update installed, no other problems. :clap Great people at Ocean BMW Plymouth. :thumb2

I thought bike seemed to run smoother and had better pick up, :bounce1 took it to Baskervile Hall, Wales back in May, run as sweet as a nut there and back, :D unlike the weather.:(

But that might be down to the service, rather than the update, :nenau or just riding with some good friends. :thumb2

My 07 feels the same after the upgrade (and fuels better than the 08 they loaned me) and it's fixed the fuel guage issue!

Can't advise which ones mines a June 2007 bike I just received a letter saying there was a recall on some of the brake pipes can't find the letter sorry.

No recalls listed with VOSA after 2006 issues with ABS, it states......

When work involving removal of the left brake caliper is undertaken (i.e. when a tyre is changed) there is a possibility that the ABS sensor cable can be incorrectly routed when the caliper is reinstalled. If it is incorrectly routed the sensor cable can chafe against the brake disc, with the result that the ABS function (not the active braking function)can fail.

Just had another look can't find it .Maybe best to ask your dealer if in doubt like I say mines June 2007 non servo .:thumb

I had to take my bike back for the software update on my 07 gs1200 straight after the 6,000 mile service last month. I noticed they did classify this as a recall on their paperwork.

Can't say I noticed any real perfromance difference. May be a bit smoother and I rarely push the 8K redline. I do think the fuel gauge issue is fixed though.

I am getting better fuel consupmtion and my fuel gauge is much more linear now. No performance changes at al

Hey red rocket, my bike is a 2007 GSA and my brakes make a creaking noise while pulling the lever at low speeds. the dealer couldnt figure it out.

Any info on that??

Fixed after upgrade

This problem of poor running after a computer upgrade is well known refer thread:
http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php?t=153125

I had the same problem on my 07 after an upgrade some months ago but today I had another upgrade and the bike is back to normal.
My understanding is "V12" is the suspect program and it appears to cause the sluggesh running. The dealer installed "v13" and all is back to normal.
Hope this helps

Rodsharp,
What are the problems with your bike?

How many other owners of 1200GS's are having the software update, then experiencing vibes and roughness? Perhaps a head count is needed.........?

Ran sweet as a nut before the upgrade , Now there is a noticable flatspot, vibrations over about 4250 revs making anything over 75 mph cruising bloody annoying, and I need to be in lower gear at slow speeds in traffic than previously. The only upside is that I can run probably an extra 10/20 miles before the fuel warning light , but I would much prefer it as it was.

Similar to mine. Very pleasant bike to ride then had the software upgrade and it's rough/vibes virtually throughout the rev range with bad spots 3000-4000. I'm a bit pissed off that the dealer says the bike is the same as any other GS, ie. it has no fault. The R1200R courtesy bike I used was pretty smooth and it just showed how bad my GS has become now it is 'enhanced'.

Sheeees, I thought I was up to date with having cip 11.2 installed on my 2008 GSA.

You telling me its up to 13 in the uk now?

SLIGHT CORRECTION

Because of the interest shown here and the need to get it right I spoke with the mechanic who tuned my bike last week. v13 was installed CIP 12.24 was
We are of course talking about Sydney, Australia.

SO CIP 12.24 FIXED MY BIKES POOR RUNNING

I hope this helps

just had the update/ recall brake work done yesterday on my june 07 gs, also had the throttle bodies balanced ( 1st time at 10600miles) the bike runs smoother at lower revs ie just off idle ( which i suspect is the balancing ), prior to that there was the flat spot at 70- 80mph, which is still there (emissions test revs) so i've nothing detrimental to report, it still revs/goes hard when caned...:D

i think the fuel guage is better....

regards
