no torque settings are gone, would not have taught that but does make sense.

might do as Packer was saying and roughly 25 less torque

You're in for a shock on the price of the outer seal, and one which i've never needed to replace on a bmw.

Yes, the cleaning and prep. is the worst part.

but not as good as hoped. must have had some oil and old paint on it

ah well still better than before.

might sand them down in the areas and touch up by hand after

i found the paint bubbled a bit where original paint and new paint joined

used it on the paralever arm

didnt on the engine as wasnt the worst. but few area will have be re sanded and touched up

looking good now when bolt it together

ok headers polished, end can polised, all starting to go back together BUTTTTTT

why for some reason is my end can hitting the pillion mount. it has rubber an area into it as is

I'd like to help but I don't really understand what you're saying.

remus exhaust is rubbing and hitting off the bracket that hold the pillion foot pegs.

how do you fix it. tried bending the mount but didnt help.

thinking now a custom dent in the area where it is hitting is the only solution.

Is this the same silencer that you removed before polishing?

You are best to loosen the Y-piece clamps (fore and aft). The silencer mounting (on the sub-frame) has a bush in it that allows the silencer to be rotated on the Y-piece slightly. If the silencer to Y-piece clamp is done-up tight, it cannot be twisted away from the pillion footrest bracket.

Get the silencer mounting bolt started, then rotate the silencer away from the footrest, then nip it up before tightening the Y-piece to silencer clamp. Finally do up the header to Y-piece clamps.

well it looks like always rubbed it, it was pushing it sideways, so a gently tap and gentle curve in the can has sorted it all. would not even notice it
