Apologies, since I know there are plenty of posts about the pros and cons of fitting a set of downpipes and doing away with the cat....

However, I have an '09 GSA and really want to fit either Akrapovic or Keihan header pipes over the next few weeks. I intend to keep the original air filter since I keep hearing a K&N type will make a 2009 bike run far too lean.

Question is........ has anyone with a 2008/9 bike, fitted with aftermarket header pipes had their bike on a Dyno to see how lean the engine is running?

I can justify the cost of the downpipes but don't really want to (can't afford) to spend another wedge on a Power Commander if you see what I mean.

I had a 58 plate gsa , fitted with keihan headers, it made a reasonable difference to the flat areas in the rev range, it was worse with a k+n filter installed so kept orginal one in , its a mod worth doing if you decide you want more you can always get a power commander at a later date.

Sorry to re-ask, but..... has anyone with a 2008/9 bike, fitted with aftermarket header pipes (Akrapovic or Keihan) had their bike on a Dyno to see how lean the engine is running?

I've got Keihan downpipes and an Akro end pipe on my 09 plate GSA. I had a PC 5 put on last Friday and was run on the dyno before and after the PC was fitted. Told by the dyno tech that the bike was running very lean in certain places before he tweaked it. Cost me a few quid for the dyno and the PC 5 but all I wanted was piece of my for my P&J. Bike now runs smoothly throughout the rev range with no concerns about running lean. Hope this helps.
