Less than a fiver now for 256 Mb Compact flash....Now look at the Maplin price for these silly Garmin "data cartridges"!

Who are they kidding?

I have two 256Mb memory cards - so they are worth more than the streetpilotIII !! I got two as CN V6 needed two to get all of UK mappng on. Given the price, I'll swap my SPIII plus two memory cards for quest 2 plus cash my way!

Had a word with Garmin and they said you can't us a 256mb card with the SP III.

Thats complete rubbish, I've used a 256mb card since new and it was an aftermarket one, Garmin sell a 256mb for the unit. Mine came from an ebay seller based in Germany and it was less than £30 delivered.
Just found the ebay seller now £60 they seem to off doubled in price, may be due to demand decline.

I had my 256mb from www.Gpsw.co.uk The Garmin ones were not being solld as they had too much lead content according to the guy at Gpsw.I paid £59.99 last July.,,,Datamedia branded. This may be the same as the German guy mentioned.:nenau

I just had a quick look on their site and sorry but they are sold out with a e-mail address to contact. I suppose that's so they can tell you themselves that they have none left:blast If interested the part number was gpsw256mb ,,, very clever I thought, that.

yer thats right when garmin released them they were compatible but then laws came in and they had to change them but unfortunatley they didn't change the packaging too well and it still said stp3 on them. You may still be able to find 3rd party ones or originals but not new ones that will work.
