The dealer were i bought my bike from has just sent me the front fogs,Can any one tell me how to wire them there seams to be a lot of wires. Thanks ...

Mine came fitted from the factory so I cant be much help!!

I was always under the impression extras were just plug and play in effect. I assumed the loom would have the plugs on already and it was just a case of inserting a link wire to the aux lights.

£115 Fitted by BMW. Correct switch on handle bars and informed the electrical management system that they are there (you can't do that bit). :(

My advice is unless you are a technical bloke don't mess with the CAN BUS system.:rob

You can hard wire the to the battery and jerry rig a switch harness with a relay but not quite the same.

An example here:

Sorry mate ... another one for "dealer fitted" when i bought the bike ... but I have put a relay in the circuit and HIDs in the lamps themselves.

Not sure what the other end of the circuit looks like tho.

I have every thing as the dealer took them off a bike in there show room but not sure were to start,,,,

Just to clarify something, the bike you bought did not come specified with front fogs and the dealer is supplying you a set from another bike from his showroom stock?

Was this part of the deal you negotiated when you bought the bike?

All the connections will be there to connect them but I've no idea what they look like, the only thing I'd be wondering is if you manage to fit them will the canbus system need to be reprogrammed so it knows the lights are there. :nenau

i bought the bike from a bmw dealer 200 miles a way but the tight bastard that had owned it took the factory fog lights off for his 08 bike so the dealer has sent me a set taken off a 56 plate bike like mine but i dont want to drive 200 miles to get free fitting.

Ok got ya.

If the bike had them fitted previously no issues with the canbus needing tweeked.

Don't have a GSA but it seems to me if you mount the lights and use the length of the wires as a guide to look for the sockets they plug into, might help to take the beak off.

As far as the switch goes it's connectors might be anywhere, why not ring the dealer and ask where the connections are?

Just had a look at my 07 GSA and, the wire from the left fog light (as sitting on the bike) goes across to the right, and then goes back. It's hard to say what they do then, as it's all covered in tape. Sorry can't be any more descriptive :o

thanks all, might take it to mill bmw ,but the cost might excide the value of the bike....

Away from my bike/home this week ... but the wiring to the lights is pretty simple, not much in the way of a harness ...

Does the microfiche breakdown help in identifying the parts and connections (http://www.maxbmwmotorcycles.com/fiche/fiche.asp), alternatively find someone with te service guide on CD/DVD and get them to snapshot the relevant pages (sorry, mines at home!).

Hi Adie,

can't your dealer give you a copy of the fitting instructions? They must have them or can get them from BMW. If the order a set for retro fitting they will have some instructions also. Must be available from the BMW network.

Just checked the RepRom but there's nothing about fitting the lights.

Greetings, Tom.

Just take the ride man, 200 miles is a breeze on the gs, go, have fun drink coffee while they fit them :-)
