Took the 1150GS out this afternoon after doing the Steptoe wire mod for y piece, ie removed the yellow relay & put a link wire in as per the pics. Less popping on overrun than before (but still some, do I need a chip, do they all pop without the cat?). Anyway, went to go out tonight and the ignition works but Spyball keyfob won't do anything. It has a recent new battery. Tried the spare keyfob, nothing. Bike was immobilised only, then I tried the hazard lights to see if anything was working and tkis set the alarm off.
Managed to use the emergency code procedure to disarm it, and could start the bike. After turining it off it's immobilised itself again and the fobs are not working (did try to re initialise them but this did nothing). This is the first time I've had an alarm on a bike, and probably the last.
I've done a search and it seems like a wire may be dodgy. Before I rip into it (don't even know where the unit's been fitted FFS) has anyone else had exactly this problem, and is there an easy cure? Bike is an 01, and presume the alarm was fitted then. At least this happened at home, where I've got the book to show how to do the emergency thing. Just as well I don't need the bike to get to work tomorrow!
Any advice (of the useful sort) much appreciated!
