Just a quick heads up about the Bormio side of the pass . Yesterday I went down the Bormio side only to find out that the Italians had decided to close that part of the pass on my return ,no one knew when it was re opening which left many motorcyclists trapped on the Bormio side.
Some local cyclist said talk of 7pm before it opens but no one new.
I ended up going the long way back to my hotel which would have been around 10 miles instead it took me from 3.30 to 8pm to get back Needless to say I was very pissed off.
So just be aware if you round that area it seems like the Italian's have a mind of their own.

It was snowing.
It's kinda normal to check in advance as the weather can be extreme at higher altitudes, and always have a low-level detour also during summer.

Also, avoidable pass to be fair. Or, do once and forget. :D
