i checked the pads on my adv and found the wear was very uneven on the right caliper pads. the pad on the outside has about 2mm of material left while the inside (spoke side) one looks almost new.
when i tried to remove the pads, the unworn (is that a word?) one was stuck in the caliper. it appears as if it wedged itself in. i cleaned up the caliper and the pads but can't see why it would do that. i swapped them around but it looks like the same pad is wedged again. i don't think it is the pin that is worn because it comes out easily.

i am thinking of filing off any rough spots on the pad metal to see if this will help.

has anyone had this before?

Yes, although not on a GS.

I just filled the hole/slot on the metal backing in order to remove what was a rough casting, just as you suggest. Worked a treat.
