Still dithering

Not posted anything for a while as i am still waiting to hear whether my early retirement is to be granted or not
I had finally made up my mind, that i would not buy a new 1200gs/gsa,but would buy a used 08 model privately and use the saving to fund the purchase of an R1100s. Well i have found and purchased a very nice 11s which i'm sure some user's on this forum will know the bike it belonged to Gary otherwise known as "Northernboxer" on the Boxertrix site.
It's great to be riding a BMW boxer again i didn't realise how much i had missed it,over the last 4 years.
So hopefully in the not to distant future i will be looking in earnest for a GS there are a couple i am keeping an eye on on this site.
Having said that that is one lovely 1150 gs that has been posted for sale today on this site.
For some strange reason i would be more worried about takeing that out in the wintr than i would a new 1200.
I,ve subscribed today so i can contact prospective sellers.

Hi Steve... If it were me I'd be looking for one here... on the whole you'll be getting an 'enthusiasts' bike thats been well looked after... and with plenty of bling if you're lucky

It will almost definately be coming from this site, which is one of the reasons i decided to subscibe, plus the fact it's worth £12 of anybodies money to have access to the information and knowledge thats available here.

If it's a long term keeper you may want to consider the potential costs of maintenance on a 1200 with canbus and several systems that have to be reset by a dealership computer.

The older 1150's aren't so demanding of high tech facilities. They are of course heavier by around 28Kg's and have less top end power. I don't know about the torque.

Hi Packer,
Definately not a high tech junkie and after just buying my 1100s, the performance is plenty for me, i have never ridden an 1150 gs, but i did have an 1150rs for a while which i liked very much.
It's all very frustrating i love the look of the 1150gs more so than the 1200,but having had extended test rides on both the 1200gs and 1200gsa both myself and Jo my wife thought they were great bikes.
As the main use for the gs will be touring holidays and extended rides in the uk i feel that it may be better to go with the 1200, although i know the 1150 is more than capable we felt the 1200 may be more comfortable and could easily be covered for 3yrs under warrenty.

If it's a three year change cycle and you like it then it sounds like a 1200 is the steed of choice
