Stolen Bike

I had my white 2015 GS stolen in Louth on Monday night. It was captured on the B&B’s door cam. Four youths on two scooters bump started it and took off. If anyone sees a bike being offloaded in the area could they pm me?
Thanks
J
a registration and a picture of it Might be useful and A tour of local estates may be worth while

The nicked bike was a 2015 GS.

It all fits together. If it was nicked on Monday night it's likely reported when it's not there on Tuesday am.

Looks like the steering lock wasn't on, You would see a jerk on the bars. Then they will have pushed it from someone sitting on one of the scooters with a foot on it. Scrotes.
Steering lock was definitely on - as was a brake disc lock. You can hear them bump starting the bike as they push it around the corner

If they could bypass/cheat the inbuilt ignition immobiliser circuitry of the BMSK in seconds they knew what they were doing and had the kit with them to do so.

Scrotes with means.

So you could hear it. WOW It was too easy to nick that.
Hope you get it back, and see how they did it. Will you report back here please, It’ll help others.

Don't trust the press to report bike models with accuracy.

It could have been a 1200GS/1250 or anything similar. Heck, even a Vespa.
I've been through it years ago. ;)

I'd go ask if I were in you.

Out of curiosity what disc lock was being used? Just to steer clear of that model in case 😲

Means in order to nick but only not much riding means if it was the same bike.

That was shocking to see. They clearly don't care about a bit of noise and security lights coming on..

Bloody hell that was unbelievably quick.!!

From the look / sounds in the video:

A. The bike didn’t have its steering lock on. Or not one that needed to be forcibly snapped. The usual and easiest method to snap a steering lock is to sit / lie back on the seat and give the bar end a sharp kick.

B. Didn’t have a disc lock, or not one that the thieves had to in any way struggle to remove.

C. One of the thieves, who comes in first to check the bike out, can be heard to say, what sounds like “Nothing’. I take this to mean, no security. Timed at about 0:12 to 0:14.

D. The sound, is that of the side stand scraping. One of the thieves can be heard to say: “Put the stand up”. 0:28 to 0:30.

E. The only thing the thieves struggle with whilst pushing the bike away, is that the bike is in gear. 0:36

F. There is a motorcycle (and a third thief) out on the road. You can see it roll forward, probably propelled by the rider’s legs, as the stolen bike is pushed alongside. It is the sound of the bike on the road being firing up, used as a ‘slave’ to tow the stolen bike away in neutral, that one hears. It’s the most common method of ‘push away’ thefts.

Shocking how some owners are oblivious as to the real world when it comes to bike theft.
Certainly looks like this bike wasn't secured in any way at all !
No wonder insurance premiums are sky rocketing.

I suspect your assessment is on the money, particularly point F.

My understanding is that these bikes cannot simply be 'hotwired' and the engine noise was not that of a R1200GS.

As someone who has had their bike (chained/ground anchor) stolen I have sympathy for the OP, and wish him/her better luck than I in the recovery of the bike.

Hind sight is a wonderful thing, bolt n horse etc. However, 2 mins to fit a disc lock or 2 and this thread wouldn’t have happened.

The OP has already confirmed the steering lock was on and the bike was fitted with a disc lock, do you doubt this?

If nothing else, this thread (along with the posts about the VBlogger who had his bike pinched in France) is a very good reminder that nowhere is safe from motorcycle thieves. Not least, both threads are a definite reminder that:

A. Thieves are brazen. They really do not care.

B. An unsecured or poorly secured bike, can vanish in under a minute, from under your very nose.

C. Whilst something is better than nothing, a bike locked to itself (say with just a disc lock) is still easy to steal. That said, a half decent disc lock might have prevented or at least slowed, what was on the face of it, a simple push away.

D. Once gone, a decent tracker is probably the only way to maybe find the vehicle again.

E. Never skimp on the pound of butter in the fridge.

Hopefully, the OP’s insurer will now right the wrong.
