Any ideas?

Bike has not been started for about 2 months. Went to it today with intention of going out on it but it has a strange misfire.

At low revs it apperars to be misfiring, when accelerating or at high revs it does not appear to be doing it and runs fine. I went about 3 miles on the bike to see if it would clear but to no avail. Cannot find anything obvious so will have to investigate further when I can get it on the bike ramp but any ideas are welcome.

Also, after about 10 minutes of running on the drive, the catalytic converter was glowing red to the extent that the rear tyre was starting to smoke, is this normal?

Any help much appreciated.

Adam :)

10 mins  You're not supposed to run them stationary for more than a minute or so. It will certainly overheat.

Fixed

Boxer

That was an inspired reply. It was indeed the cable not sitting in the holder correctly. Must have moved it when replacing the side panel and refitting the battery.

Many thanks for suggestion, saved me lots of time looking at more complicated things.

Cheers,

Adam

Inspired? Not at all - it's not exactly the first time it's happen by a looooong way.

I'm just pleased I was quick enough to get in first :)

During my many visits to BMW garages I've often seen the mechanics run the engines for up to 10 mins with the bike stationary - including many GSs ! Interesting.
