Hello all,
Recently when I was moving my bike (f800gs)I could hear a sound like a ticking, this happens when bike is switched off and cold and moved forward or backward. The clutch lever position doesn't make any difference. The bike has 25000 miles on it.The sound can be heard about 5-6 times if the bike is rolled 12inches.It is riding ok,it's just I never heard this before.I cannot confirm if sound is from front or back of bike.Any help or advise is welcome.
Thanks
Furby

Has it been stood, was it put away wet ?
could the chain be partially seized
Are the chain and sprockets in good order generally ?
So many questions

Definately check the condition and tension of the chain and wear of sprockets.

Prob chain and Sprockets, mine does the same when rolled backwards. Stick yer head down that area and have a lesson.

I have checked all the suggested items above and the only thing I can see is that there is a small bit of sideways movement of the chain on both sprockets.also I had a friend confirm the sound is from the front.i took off the front sprocket guard and there was a lot of GUNK in there, which I cleaned out and now I think it's not as bad.chain and sprockets were replaced under warranty previously.chain is in good condition as the Scott oiler and regular tension checks see to that.Still wondering if I should be concerned or not.
Thanks to all.

Any stiff links? Guess just keep an eye on it with the usual wear tests.

I wouldn't be too worried.
