Stuck bolts

I don't know if they are stainless. I left the bike at home today and took the car. I'll put a magnet on them when I get home.

In terms of the heat used, only used a simple blow torch canister setup. Type of thing that you would use to strip paint.

To torture myself, I'm going to go have a look at what I'm going to have to replace if this all goes horribly wrong.

It's all most odd. One of the other bolts came out about 3 mm and just stuck fast. The other two (closest to the tank) just will not budge at all.

Have you checked they haven't got nuts attached to the bolts underneth the yolk :D

I'd be inclined to get some plus gas oil on it twice a day for a few days before getting the big guns out. It has worked for me a few times.

Good luck.

No, I've no idea!! Is that even possible?!!! I'll check later!! I really hope you are right.

I put some plus gas on it yesterday, I'll add more tonight. Unless of course, there are nuts holding in those bolts.

The 1150 Rt has bolts under the top fork yolk.... and seeing as yours aren't original fittings who knows what's under there.

Try Freeway, far superior to any other penetrating fluid. .

I had similar on and old off road bike, we drilled the heads off the bolts, put some plus as down the bolts holes and left over night, next day just pulled clamps and bars off, that then left us some nice studs to get out. Came out really easy with a decent stud extractor as there was no pressure on threads as the head was cut off.

To answer the burning question, no nuts on the other end of the bolts! Surgery begins tomorrow night. If it works I might get out for a spin on Sunday.

As you’ve said ,no locking nuts,
I’d use the advice given above,
But don’t use the term stud extractor as easy out.
External clamping type

Dremel the feckers across the top mate, and get a big flat headed screwdriver and locking pliers, and you will be sorted.

It's with my mate Adam. Ignorance is Bliss. I'm hoping it will be done by the morning. I'll let you know what he does to fix it! It's easier to pay him than buy a load of new tools and most likely make a ruination of it :D

That makes sense, how can you not have tools, tossers always have a shitload of tools they never use...............:D

Oh i have tools but I also have the sense not to use them! Costs less in the long run for me to pay someone to do stuff I will not doubt mess up! I think I'll manage to put the bar backs on when it's sorted though.

Copious amounts of some anti seize and big tools and a lot of torque and the bolts came out. New ones have gone in. These ones have been copper greased! Really handy having a bike mechanic on site. So, a happy ending! Plus I've got my handlebar raisers installed.
