i bought a 2001 GS1150 last year with ABS... it's a single spark model..

Having read through a few "servo" horror stories how would i know/find out if mine has a servo ???

did they all have it or was it an option??

I'm not an expert on the model changes but if switch on your ignition (don't start the bike) and pull on the front brake lever if you have a servo you will hear a high pitched whistling noise from the servo motor. Pressing the rear brake pedal will have the same effect.:thumb2

Thanks Guys can't say i've noticed a noise and i always cover the rear brake (hendon shuffle) at lights etc... i'll pop out tonight and see is it whistles.

lets hope not!

Thanks Again!

Servos from late 2002 onwards (and only on twin sparkies as well i believe)so you have a proper one.:thumb

I thought the giveaway was a sparkly light on the dash that says BRAKES - which lights up conveniently AFTER your brakes fail. Genius idea.
If BMW hadn't thought of it I bet Touratwat would've. complete with Impact resistant plastic and a stainless steel guard.

Thanks Guys, no Sticker, No BRAKE light and no whirring noise when brakes applied!

Thanks for prompt and helpful replies!

The brakes on the servo models work with the engine off. You just have to pull the handle harder.
