Hi Guys (& gals, are there any on these forums?)
I`ve developed a reflective overvest which you might be intrerested in.
Before you turn off there is a difference. Rather than a boring vest with vertical reflective stripes my vests have the reflective material heat applied to a strong, open mesh in various designs such as dragons, bats, all sorts.
They are one size fits all and are adjusted, not by naff velcro straps but by cord adjustments at both sides to provide a snug fit to the bike jacket.
The website is here tinwolf
There are lots of other designs available but the amount that`s there is all I could get on the DIY website provided by wanadoo (I know nothing about web site creation). I can also provide vests with the customers own design on.
I recently created a vest for the Northern Pan Riders club with their logo on the back.
I would appreciate any feedback you guys would like to give (please be gentle, I`ve spent a long time developing this idea). :bow

I think it is compulsory to carry one in Europe now in case of a breakdown at nightime. They certainly look bright although for me personally, I'm not sure I'd pay that much for one. Not sure if your "one-size" will fit some of these GS folks, maybe you need a "GS One-Size" as well. And the words "Slow" for the 1200 riders.

I like the look of the cord adjusters - they do look like it would give a snug fit. Is the price for a customised design or one of the designs you have on show?

As these are made of black mesh do they meet the requirement to carry a refelective in the vehicle in certain countries ?
I think they need to work in daylight as well as darkness for that.
Having said that I do like the look of them and am considering one, any plans for a GS specific design ?

GS logo ideas??

The price is regardless of wether it`s your own design or one of mine.
As for the price, if there is enough interest maybe I could reduce the price for the GS "pets" out there. :D

Hi Tinwolf,

I think you've got a great idea there, lots of potential.

Three questions.

1. If I wanted my own design, is there a minimum quantity?
2. What format would the information need to be in?
3. The mesh vest - could the have a yellow mesh for visibility in the day? (The application I'm thinking of isn't for motorcycles, so yellow mesh would be good!)

And good luck with your venture! The website is nice and easy to follow + use - maybe someone on this board could help with the extra pictures? It's not an area I know anything about...

Regards,

David

1. No there is no minimum order quantity as each design is individually cut using a vinyl plotter/cutter.
2. A JPEG would be best, there may be some work involved to adapt it for the cutting software but most designs will work. Obviously colour will not work.
3. At the moment we only have the black mesh as I haven`t found any hi-vis mesh of the same quality, but I am playing with a couple of ideas for using fluorescent material on the mesh as well as reflective. My own vest has a couple of fluo bars on each shoulder, I can`t send a picture as they`re on my home PC and I`m at work at the mo. but if you like I can send you a piccy of the fluo addition when I get home.
Regards
Tinwolf

Logo

As far as logos go, it depends on wether you want a GS specific logo or a ukgser specific logo.

TOSSERS :D

This is a picture of the vest with the proposed fluorescent bars.
Any comments? :o

How are they when they are not in use and get stuffed into a pannier or tank bag ? Does the reflective material stay good ? I could imagine it cracking or flaking perhaps ......got any geckos ? :D

The reflective material doesn`t crack but it does hold a crease quite well.
I just leave mine on my bike jacket all the time, I think it adds a bit of style to a fairly boring black jacket. The vest stays on fine when I take my bike jacket off so I just leave it on the jacket.

Getting a gecko design shouldn`t be a problem, I`ve not been asked for one before.
What is it with you and geckos anyway

A Xmas present??

Funny you should mention that Gecko, I had a request just before Xmas for a vest with a gecko design to be delivered to Belgium for a present.
Was it for you?? :thumb

Funnily enough .....yes it was :D My son bought it for me . For first hand user feedback , it's a good bit of kit and very individual for sure. The length of the vest is on the short side for my 6'4"frame . It's more of a bikini top than a vest but over the jacket it doesn't matter. The adjusting sides make it and easy fit and you'd be hard pushed not to get even the biggest beer gut in it IMHO.

I used it in anger on boxing day on my ride back from Eastern Belgium in a snow storm in the dark  . I don't normally wear any kind of flourescent vests but this reflective material was comforting to have all over my torso in those conditions.

Hi Gecko
Call me thick but it took me a little while to figure out it was your son who ordered the vest.
He actualy asked for it on 13 Dec and I found out the last date for posting to Belgium was the 14th, I took the afternoon of 14th off from work to complete and post the vest to make sure you got it.
Any I`m glad you like it, pass the word :bounce1

You're a star :thumb and I will pass the word for sure. It arrived a good few days before Christmas but thanks for the effort to make sure . I wouldn't like to have had to kill my son on Christmas morning for not having got me a pressie .:D

I'm fairly sure I will get asked about it because it is so unique . I'll pass on your website details to anyone who asks ......shall we say 25% commission on all orders received from this side of the channel ;)

I`m glad it got there on time, I would hate to have been responsible for a murder :D
As for the commission if you get plenty of orders we might see (sucker) :eyebrow

Might be a good idea if you incorporate a www.tinwolf.co.uk badge onto the vests so that anyone who asks "where did you get it " can immediately give them your website details. I'm not likely to remember it when I'm half out my head at some hogroast somewhere whereas if it's a label on the vest it's there for everyone see ;)
I'll try and get a plug in the Belgium biking press for you . They have a new products feature section so this might interest them. :beerjug:

Thanks for that Gecko

On the normal vest there is a reflective Tinwolf logo badge on the back as can be seen from the photos on this thread. but your son asked me not to put the badge on and the customer is always right!
