After a wee bit o' comtemplation and discussion wi' two or three others, I reckon we should try and stick to campsites, bunkhooses or hostels for future SS overnight events. Obvious exemptions being Gathering Of The Clans and SS Xmas Dooz (for obvious reasons).
The main reason being is that a hotel meet like we just had at Blair Atholl can end up eatin' intae your hard earned even afore you kick a ba' in the bar. If you include your fuel, drink money and accomodation, a night in a hotel can cost between £150 and £200. That's a fair chunk and TBH hotels are a bit hit and miss. I was a wee bit disappointed wi' the evening meal on Saturday. I was even mair disappointed at being hit with a £25 surcharge for "single occupancy" of a cupboard. I still fail to understand that one. Den and Garfield had single occupancy of twin bedded rooms that were aboot three times the size of the sole single room that I had. Same price though
Thankfully, the company and laughs mair than made up for any shortcomings in the accomodation.
A night oot at Sleeperzzz has already been discussed (briefly at this stage) and last year's Wigwambams was a brilliant event. Cheap as chips accomodation both and then you spend as much or as little as you want on bevvy and grub. Sleeperzzz is £14 pppn and add on a tenner for yer denner, it still makes it £55 cheaper than single occupancy at say: the Blair Atholl Hotel.
There's a recession on as well apparently so I reckon this is one of my better ideas (maybe the only wan)
Whit do the rest o' the SS (including honourary members) reckon? Bear in mind that most places we'd be visitin' would hae at least BnB accomodation for wur mair upmarket members...
