Fitted new plugs to my '98 GS. First test ride the bike bogs down totally at low revs then suddenly kicks in at higher revs and takes off.

The new plugs Bosch FR6DDC (from BM dealer) looked very different to the old NGK plugs I took out. Is it a plug problem or something else? Didn't ride the bike far so wasn't warmed up properly but it's never done that before.

If its only done it since you changed the plugs I would point the finger at them. If you kept the old plugs then pop them back in and see if you still have the problem.

I have just changed my plugs as I did the 24k service and the BMW dealer in North Oxford supplied the NGK plugs and It runs a dream.

Cheers John. i was too cold and p***ed off to try that but will give it a go tomorrow.

Have you run on leaded?

My '98 never surged, but after i poisoned the Lambda (O2) sensor running on leaded in Iran, then it started to surge for the first time in it's history if engine was cold and accelerating somewhere 3K rpm - "a magic hand hold the bike back" effect.

Mostly surging seems to be a problem of 1100/1150 models that don't have the CAT and Lambda sensor though... Techclusion is an option to these models.

First try to replace the sparks, new air filter and then sync throttle bodyes and see if it gets better. If not, then maybe try to replace the lambda sensor.
