Are you talking about something other than the official protection zones?

The TRF have said that all lanes in the effected areas are closed.

As far as I can tell Roy's route is even outside the Surveillance zone

Just got told I'm at a wedding Saturday in Guisborough, which I might have forgotten about:blast only wife's best friend of all time:blast and mine:blast

Chances of being back in time are slim...

Bother.... I even got all the HP back in one piece with no bits left over:augie

I knew there was a reason why I voted for the 28th:blast

Have fun and hope the weather is good...

So are we all prats for riding about at any other time? :(

The route is entirely OUTSIDE the Surveillance zone, so please tell us why we shouldn't ride on what are legal trails? If you're that concerned, why don't you ask to stop all traffic from driving about on the roads within the two zones as well. Hmm that would be fun, stop traffic from using the M3 and A3. No driving in Guildford, Woking, Aldershot or Farnham. :blast

Folks, as far as I'm concerned, the ride is STILL ON. :thumb2

Hey Kevhdr,

I see your from Ashford. Me too. If your ever up for some green laning around this way let me know. I know most of the lanes and I am always looking for people to ride with....I get bored talking to myself all the time!

Not sure if I can make this event though :blast

Hi Mudlover
Give us a bell on 07967635553 & we can sort some rides out . I have been looking for some green lanes round here . See you rode up to Cape Trib i did that on a HD 1200 Sportster in 96 very wet !

I will give you a call tomorrow Kev. I rode to cape Trib in 97 on a DRZ 400....I think??
I'm definately up for some green lanes round this way though.

Are you going to this Surrey ride on Sunday? I am gettting very tempted and if I do, I think I'm riding down with Steve1200GS.
My only concern is the standard scorpions I have on my KTM 990. If it doesnt rain then I'm up for it.

Cheers
Simon

It seems there is another Suspect farm. West of dorking. (outside the first surveilance zone... is that what it's called?)
I don't know what route we are looking at taking, but perhaps we should check somehow that we are going to be ok for this ride.
I am a bit concerned about the risk of spreading disease and ruining peoples lives, However I do believe that DEFRA are on the case and if we are not asked/told not to ride by DEFRA then we should carry on and enjoy ourselves.

On a less serious note, reading my name back in another post as Steve1200gs it occurs to me that this is a really boring name. (not Steve the other bit)
I'm thinking of changing it to Noboir pronounced KnobWah. It's a sort of nick name at my work.
Any thoughts?
it's friday:beer:

I would try and avoide anything with nob in it :augie

If this Sunday ride looks like it might not happen then I can try and organise a route around the Maidstone/Ashord/Canterbury/Dover way.

Either way.....I'm going :)

Get real

Wakeup mick head :mcgun Think before you post.
I'm a GSers and it's comments like that, that would make me stop bikes riding on my land here in Dorset.

Just go and enjoy yourself :nenau and ferkup someones living.

Have a great time.

I tell you what... you just stay tucked up in Dorset and next time we're down there we'll avoid you and your land:D

May be you need to look to the government to change legislation on how badly animals are treated and what you're allowed to feed them (remember BSE, I suppose the bikes, cycles and ramblers made that worst too????) before you start pointing the finger - if the area is under survailence then it will have been closed we'll avoid it - just like we'll avoid you.

I blame THE CHINESSE :spitfire

Decisions Decisions

40 miles straight across London or 60 miles around the M25

what do you reckon?

Might have 2 more here ... weather dependant. (and the forecast is OK for Saturday n Sunday)

A 1200 on Distanzias and a 650 on TKCs

I am concerned about about the outbreaks & dont want to spread it . I hope the event is still on but if DEFA advise us not to i will take notice & take up mudlovers offer. I would prefer to do the wombat as it sounds like a challenge on the 1100 . Thanks to all & keep us posted on any changes hope to see you all Sunday .

On the Foot & Mouth issue, I think that it's a fair question to ask 'Where do you draw the line?'

What better place than where the Government draws it?

Whilst nearly all the route is outside the surveillance zone, regrettably, the zone has just been extended and now includes Newlands Corner.

Perhaps a new start point should be identified?

Actually it's not so bad, the Defra advice is:

"Access to the countryside

Is the countryside open? Are footpaths open?

Despite the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) on a farm in Surrey, the countryside remains open. [NB Defra's emphasis - GM] There is no need for people to stop visiting the countryside and, at the present time, the only impacts on visitor attractions are those which result from the restrictions on animal movements and animal gatherings.

However, footpaths and bridleways on infected premises are closed and the Chief Veterinary Officer has taken a decision to close the footpaths and bridleways in the first Protection Zone. This decision is based on the latest veterinary risk analysis and is in light of the number of cases in PZ 1 and the proximity to the main area under investigation. Also, a number of footpaths directly around infected holdings have also been closed to ensure that operations at the sites can continue. The situation will be kept under review.
"
