On a ride out today on my NEW 2013 RT 1200 (only 1,000 miles on the clock) my left hand indicator started playing up. Not the indicator its self more the switch when trying to cancel a left hand signal with no success tried turning the RH indicator on and the hazards started flashing persistent pressing of the indicator switch eventually turned the indicators?hazards off but this problem continued to repeat its self intermittently the RH indication working without fault.
whilst i know this is simply a Warrantee issue i am pretty peed off that such a simple thing can stop me riding a new bike that has cost me 14K.
has anyone else suffered issues like this ?

Yip. Not an uncommon problem. Don't let it get you down. Take it back to the dealer and he'll order you a new switch. Chill, accept that these things happen, the new one will be fine.
Probably.

exactly the problem I had, it only took a month to sort out so that was Ok wasn't it ?

mine lasted 2.5 years at least before this happened. It was not covered in the ext warranty and I replaced it myself. You should be covered. But agree, for so much money, is it too much to ask?

Whilst I know mine will be covered under warranty as i only got it new at the end of August the dealer said its a common fault but we have no switches in the country so will have to be ordered one from Germany and would i like him to order one?
i thought about answering err no its alright please don't go to all that trouble i only paid 14K i will be happy to ride it around as it is to save you the aggro

are you saying you have extended warranty and its not covered under that?

can anyone confirm if extended warranty is worth having once the original warranty is up?

Looks like things are improving. When mine went 'pop' on my summer trip this year (2nd one I had go faulty) I was told by dealers in Switzerland, France & the UK that there were none avilable anywhere in Europe.
To be fair, Rainbow ordered one when I got home & having been told the same thing by BMW Motorrad it arrived 2 working days later.

Mine was not replaced/covered under extended warranty. I know of others that have had theirs replaced under warranty after trawling through here, but it is actually a goodwill gesture from the dealer. I wasn't offered any goodwill from Redhill Vines...so have stopped using them. Vines guildford wouldn't help either as i had had work done at other dealers - so even though I spent money at BMW, I did not spend money at them...but no, mine weren't covered by the warranty

It's such a common failure that it could be classed as a latent defect - you should be able to persue a replcement free of charge even if the bike is outside the warranty period IMHO. It's not as if it's subject to that much wear and tear.

Friend with K1300GT ... same problem with switchgear .... he's now had two replaced ... one under warranty , one partially covered .... and they ain't cheap !!
