Mine was on the beak today, and now its looking for a new home, needless to say. Theres some obvious places, like on the black plsticy bit under the seat but no obvious attachment point.

BUT for those who dont display a disc DVLA are now 'clamping' bikes and slapping on a ticket. I read in MCN a guy had the clamp fee refunded when he produced the disc but still got stung for £80 for non-display

After much deliberation, attached to the frame with cable ties. Ties nicely hidden behind the black panel (which ok, could be pulled off). A result, I think.

Keep mine in the tool tray under the seat.

Broken weld due to tax disc fitted by dealer = WARRANTY CLAIM

Tax disc placement

Good Lord - three pages on where to put the tax disc (after four pages about shock absorbers -or photos of them !) The weather in UK must be as bad as it is here. Of course we don't have tax discs here (nor for cars.) We do have to display a green insurance 'vignette' though and the insurance company will always give you a transparent plastic /self adhesive /weatherproof holder which can be stuck on almost anywhere. Regards, Brian

New frame!

OK - told the dealer about the broken lug and they immediately said the frame must be replaced. It was in for 3 days during which time they lent me a bike. Had the 6k service done at the same time.

Now have spanking new frame!

They've moved the tax disc to the steering head - it's well out of sight now, hidden by the tank etc!

This surely must be a record for the maximal replacement for the most trivial (i.e due to the tax disc) reason :D

My son has just got a new set of lights for his bike so I have used his old front light mounting bracket, which would go on the handlebars, and fixed the disc holder to the frame just under the rider's seat. Works a treat.

On exhaust mounting bracket but now in my pocket as I've had them nicked before now
