Stopped at a T junction (turning left) today in the city and a taxi driver pulls up along side me as if I wasnt there and he keeps looking right and turns his wheel left. His front wing hits my right cylinder/crash bar. I held the bike up as it started to fall over on the left but he kept coming so I had to let it go down with me under it. The engine was running for a few seconds before I hit the kill switch. My left foot was trapped under the bike and my right leg was caught under the rear peg on the right side :nenau. Witness releases my right foot for me and I crawl out from under bike. Before we picked up the bike I noticed some oil on the ground under my bike and there was a drip of oil hanging on the petrol tank. So my question is. . . . could oil get out of somewhere while the bike was laid on its side for the minute or two before we picked it up.
Damage to the bike appears to be left mirror scratched, engine bar bung destroyed on left, right cylinder head paint cracked by contact with car and left cylinder head paint damaged by contact with head protectors (OEM parts). And I may also have a broken toe as its all black and blue etc etc.

Ah sorry to hear that , poxy taxi to busy to look around . I guess oil come out filler cap ?

2 bikes , twice is happy

What a bugger. Hope the toe's OK. If you can't walk in the morning, off to causalty for an x ray. I'm sure you reallly don't want to go to casualty on a Saturday evening.

Crankcase breather letting a bit of oil out? Does it leak when it's upright? If not, particularly if it's not leaking when running on the centre stand, probably OK.

That's crap. Check under the bike after it's been stood for a while, f it's still leaking you have a problem. Crash bars can sometimes cause more damage than they prevent - do a search on here for "Steptoe Crash Bars"

If It's not leaking, you may well be ok.

Thanks guys for the replies. No oil leaking and it drove perfect after the accident for the 10Km journey home. I've checked crash bars and their mounts and all still looks good but I'll get my mechanic to look at it on Tuesday. I'll tip up to the private casualty in the morning early and get the toes Xrayed. He will have to pay for that as well.

Dublin taxi men - worst drivers in Ireland. And the biggest wankers in Ireland. Along with the politicians. And the bankers.

Hope the bike's OK, and hope the toe's OK.

Toes are black & blue this morning. A good lesson in wearing boots on every journey. I'll take bike to dealer tomorrow to get price on parts. ;)

get them to do a full inspection following incident/crash/ altercation / call it what ever
then if there is a problem, you have something to go the taxi insurance people with - or however it works

Ah Luke., that's really shitty news. Hope your body is a bit less sore. Did you get the &@&€,s taxi number?

All details supplied by the taxi have checked out on the "official system" so now I can get some prices from BMW today.
Handy little "system" to have access to!!

Hope it all goes to plan for you Luke and the little tootsie's heel up nice and quick for you.

€945 for bits & pieces. He wont be a happy cabby :augie. Toes still sore :comfort and trying to decide if it's worth getting an X ray.

He won't be happy but on the face of it........ he's actually very lucky!

You know the answer on the X-ray.................. get it done.

Well that was quick. I told the taxi driver how much the BMW quote was & he agreed to pay straight away. Win win. :)
He's planking it you're gonna claim his insurance and push up his already ridiculous premium.

Get a check up including x-ray/scan and bill him for that as well.

Sorry, late to the party here. Not been around much lately. I had fell off my GS on a green lane a few years ago. Oil everywhere. Got the bike home and found the oil breather pipe had come away from the airbox which was full of oil. I didn't know at the time it needed draining from time to time. Anyway, you may have the same problem.

Hope the 10 little piggies have healed by now.

Regards
