tell me about your 1190

did you get it, did you get it, did you get it:D

Nah, Geoff was trying to get me to test ride the new 690 ..... he said to compare the fuelling :D

What we did talk about though was him shipping an 1190 to any where like S or N America to stay there for a while, then folk fly out and ride it:beerjug:
Can't see that it makes business sense but interesting idea.

Get him to send 2, could do with a holiday:cool:

the way the modes default to "street" if i turn the bike off.

Well bugger me sideways ! I left mine in for a recall today and it got the latest software update and now mine too reverts to Street mode when turned back on. On complaining, I was told this is the way all 2014 bikes are set up. :blast I asked about getting it put back to 2013 spec and was told that that cannot be done. A slight inconvenience, but I'll get used to it.

That saves me complaining.. I had my software updated a couple of weeks ago and noticed the same thing....

but, you can now switch off DRL in the menu ... handy for the winter months... around dusk the bike would switch between drl and headlights as it passed under a canopy of trees.. now you can turn off drl and leave the headlights permanently on

Well, that explains that then. It's a stupid way of doing things IMO.

Out of curiosity, what software version do you have after the update? check by holding the UP and DOWN buttons on your left handlebar control down whilst turning the ignition ON - it should run through a couple of menus and end up at the service info and software version. I have a 2013 model on v2-10, I can set DRL on/off, the riding mode stays where I left it, no defaulting back to STREET mode. Another chap has v2-20 and also does not see the riding mode default back to STREET. I think that would really annoy me....

same here also
I also noticed how disappointing it was that it returns to default , especially when i've been taking the piss out of a mate who has a 1290 superduke , this has done it since he got it

managed another few miles on the bike this morning. starting to really gel with it now as i run it in at the upper end of the KTM recommendations :green gri

the touring screen works fine in the lowest position with my peaked lid, but still rattles it a bit if i raise it. nothing tragic though and miles better than the standard screen. fuel consumption's dropped to 47/48 odd on the computer.

the wings silencer sounds fantastic pottering about and develops a real snarl as revs approach 6000. sharp eyed readers will notice the black mark between the cat and the silencer. this is where the exhaust attempted to singe my rukkas. can't believe it's so exposed. looks like a little job for mark hooton there :)

seat in high position has made it slightly more comfortable, and my arse is not so unhappy as previously. i think i'll try and work out how to move the footrests back next.

i've settled on a luggage strategy too. i was just on the point of ordering holan panniers & top box, but have now getting a set of the KTM plastic boxes from a forum member. arguably not as good as the holans, but i don't use them much, they don't leave scaffolding all over the bike the rest of the time + they are cheaper :)
going to get the KTM ally top box for general use. it's a good size and the best looking. it's also much cheaper buying from KTM than touratech direct. i'm guessing KTM base their price on the european TT price

still waiting for my orange crash bars to arrive at the dealer, and i'm thinking of getting the ally skidplate. don't really need it, but the OEM bit of yoghurt carton that's there now is a bit crap to say the least.

Wander if we can put a claim in against KTM as i have just melted my klim badlands trousers in the same place:blast

i'm thinking of getting the ally skidplate.

When my 1190 was in for its recall yesterday, I ended up pacing around the shop as I couldn't be bothered to take out a loaner bike. Maybe I should have as I ended up buying the skid plate. Hopefully I'll have it fitted tonight or tomorrow. I too don't really need it, but it seemed a good idea at the time. :augie

Bash plate now fitted. Easy enough job to do. It'll take a wee while to get used to the different look of her belly.

Some pics.......
