Arrived today, will try and fit tomorrow ....![]()
Errrrrrr ...... Ummmm ..... Not really ... !!
It looks nice and it is about 1cm longer but I still find the lever is just agonisingly 'not quite right' by all of a few mm's! If I put it down one spline I have to really point my toes to get under it, (but my toes would be able to hover over it) and where it is at the moment I have to make a tiny effort to lift my toes to get above it (but getting under it is a doddle).
It's no big deal, just one of those little itches you'd love to be able tweak if there was an adjustable connecting rod somewhere ....

Giles I've been looking for some reflective orange rim tape for a while without success - could you tell me if yours is reflective and where you got it from please? It looks like a good match for the KTM orange - is it as good in the flesh?Soooooooo ....
After Cato's punishment beating in Wales, today he's had a deep, deep clean. (This was what he looked like after Wales .. )
I've also managed to get hold of a second hand fairing panel from Ebay. It was in pretty much mint condition, so that has replaced the scuffed one;
Out with the old, and in with the new.
And I unbolted the scuffed crash bars and had them powder coated for £30
So with a gorgeous sunny day, it's shirt off, (bit early for a beer) and clean clean clean.
Remember this Dynax wax film stuff ?? (From a thread way back before Xmas .. )
Back in December I coated every nut and bolt (with a bit of acf too) and of course rode the bike through out the winter.
At first glance, some of the nuts / bolts look a bit tarnished and corroded, but actually, alot of that 'tarnish' is actuallt wax with crap and dirt stuck to it. The wax has done a blinding job of protecting stuff. The pic below is where my thumb nail has cleaned up just one side of an 8mm bolt;
So with a tub of Halfords 'big wipes' (they were excellent) and a few old tooth brushes and finger nails, my nuts soon looked like this;
It's not untill you look really closely, that you can see the fine film of wax that's still there. It's almost like kids crayon and flakes off with yer thumb nail. You can just make it out here on the disc rotor;
So, mnehthat could be good quality component parts, good dynax stuff, or a bit of both. Either way, I'm pretty impressed with the complete lack of corrosion pretty much anywhere.
To be completely impartial, and to tell 'the whole truth and nothing but the truth ..' the only bit of the bike that has really suffered is the rear disc rotor;
The bobbins are absolutely sparkling, and bizarrely the front rotors don't look like this at all - they look pretty mint.
A good comparison of a nut that has been hidden away under the carbon heat shield with absolutely no treatment is the Wings exhaust clamp bolt ; (note, made by Wings and not KTM Nutty ....)

Yuk! That is pretty rusty!
Other parts 9 months into ownership and a winter behind us;
Look at that last oneI'm impressed! Again, I remember treating that particular bleed nut thing with ACF and dynax, but even so, that today looks like it's brand new
So .... I'm impressed with the build quality. It is now time for the obligatory dig at the WC camp (Oh ok ... a dig at Nutty .. !!) and I hereby declare that KTM components are better than BMW ones!
Bloody hell! That's good! A bit of elbow grease and the bike looks pretty much show room condition.
And after all that, as it's such a beautiful early evening, the bike is now back in 'road mode' it's time to take her indoors for a quick pint via the local byways; (screams like a girl FFS ....)

Bloody good bike ....![]()
No worries, thanks for the info - I'll check them out.Sorry for the delay ....
I have used these guys for rim tape ..

and although my tape is not reflective, I see at the bottom of the colour option page you can opt for reflective. There's a contact us email section .... ??
The end can is polished with auto sol and elbow grease ... !

Be interested to know how this lot pans out, especially the screen - how much are they?
Hi Paul the pegs look like just what I've been waiting for - I can see that they are longer than the originals, can you tell me how much longer they are (ie how much wider are they when on the bike)? I find that my boots often fall off the outer edge of the originals - can be disconcerting at speed mid bend!Got them both from here - screen 115 euros and pegs 99.95 euros with free delivery to UK.

Will let you know how I get on with them![]()
Hi Giles - did it give a different (in-between) position compared to the standard lever?
Cheers

I've changed my mind .. !!
For the Dent trip I lowered the lever by one notch on the spline and actually, it was perfect. Definitely an improvement over the standard lever (for my size 11 boots). So it's a bit of a hook to get underneath (not by much) but just a tap to drop it down a gear.
Better ...![]()
