Why can't we have an adjustable height exhaust can and side cases that fit tight into the rear wheel rather than hanging out 4" either side. Then the bike can be cool and useful (and filter when traffic is bad).

Piece of piss to make up a hanger bracket and using a 15 quid mandrelled bend from Ebay, that's what you get
I had a WUDO zorst lowering kit ages ago.......after several can/cat changes and a house move, I'd lost one of the plates to re-fit it so I made up a DIY kit in an hour or two for 1/5th the price of the WUDO kit.
BMW won't ever make one to do that as standard because so few people would actually want the extra expense for something so few need
Yep it's very retro - alternatively you could save a wedge of cash and covert an 1100 or 1150 - loads of kits available for those.

If they're doing it to sell them as a new bike, they may well have to do it to the latest model so it passes emissions tests?
If not, I guess it's just easier to sell if it's the latest current version
