Lots of GS owners think that the 1300 GSA has been hit with the ugly stick. 1150 owners think that the 1200 was a step too far from GS origins. Others think that if it's not air cooled it's not a real GS. Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one. Mine is that I think the new GSA is ugly, along with just about every previous iteration. As a past owner of 3 different GS models and 2 KTMs I clearly don't have a problem with ugly bikes.

By the way, It's not a GS owners' forum, nor is it specifically about GSs. The sections and subsections give you a bit of a clue. If it was just for current GS owners it would be a, much smaller and b, boring. Finally, can you please point out where I became "Arsey" when owners defend their bikes.

FFS. For the hard of learning, I will reiterate the answer I have already given. I am disappointed in it because I feel disenfranchised by BMW as I really wanted to love the latest GS and buy my fifth one. I could not because in my view, it is not very good. Seeing plenty of these pig ugly bikes on Saturday reminded me of this fact, hence the thread.

Some sensible posts in response from GS1300 owners - thank you for those. And some who seem wounded and mardy at any criticism of their mighty steeds.

To the latter, I hope you recover soon and recommend curling up on the sofa with the latest edition of AlpenTourer and crywanking yourselves to sleep in your silk embroidered GS1300 pyjamas.

I was in a similar position but it's grown on me - it's gloriously ugly.

Spend some time with the 1300 and the 1250 engine seems really vibey - my RT was in for it's 3 year service and I had a GS for a day and a half. Got back on the 1250 and wondered what the hell was going on.

It helped that I was bored after 3 years and wanted a change, the deal was very good (especially compared to the MultiStrada Rally) and the GSA fits my use case of 2up Euro touring and why not? I thought.

I feel the way you do about BMW cars these days - time was there were half a dozen I wanted, currently they couldn't sell me anything.
