The 701 Info Thread.

For what it is worth - cost me £196 to add the 701 to my 1290 KTM policy (IAM Cornmarket) - excess on the Husky is £250.

Makes sense I found all three about the same price for insurance at £200 ish when I was looking to buy. Couldn’t get near that excess though with the cheaper quotes I found.

Fortunately not , started parking a car right up to the garage door at night which would stop them getting in, although it is alarmed too, nothing captured on the security camera perimeter alerting which it would if they enter ‘zones’ , so not been back touch wood.

Cost me £500 that did, garage door/ lock repair plus upgraded 3* locks on the house, twats.

Good to know!

Ive got a puig screen on 690, looks crap quality compared to Husky one, came with bike just fitted it , along with wings exhaust (plus silent kit) and adv spec sump guard.

Got some racing footpegs and clutch/starter covers still to go on.

Lads in our TRF ride 690&701 no problem and ride with all the other smaller enduro bikes all the time

We do big adv bike rides too, but never mix big adv bikes and enduro bikes on the same rides, as it ends in trouble

Are you with NY Johnny?

The ABR trail isn’t worth the effort - it’s driving around grass fields
Better to go out on a TRF ride in the Cotswold countryside

For a novice like me the ABR trail is just fine. I didn't venture onto the 'expert' course, I stayed on the intermediate course and had great fun on it. Not everyone is a seasoned off road rider and everyone has to start somewhere and gain confidence and experience. I've since done a number of green lanes etc and thoroughly enjoyed them also. I'll never be an expert at off roading but as long as I keep enjoying the taking part, that'll do me. :thumb

I'm planning on taking my 701, but as my mate only has an enduro bike we'll probably do one of the TRF rides.

I picked-up my new 701 last week. I can't stop smiling and can't stop riding it. It's bloody marvellous. I can't remember ever getting on a bike that felt so right for me from the off. I also went for the Husky 'windshield' (at £89) and can vouch for how good it is.

Good news, make sure you’ve got some decent security, the 690/701 seem to be a prime target for scumbags

Doing lots of road work is wearing out the rear Mitas E12 Rally Star that my bike came with rather quickly

So changing it for a more 50/50 tyre which turned up this morning - a Mitas E07+ which should suit the back roads riding with the occasional green lane that I do a bit better.

Should improve road use along with the nearly new Bridgestone AX41 front.

Paul, that looks great, I'd be interested in your impressions of it. I was quite surprised how nice it was to have clean air on my body and no buffeting even with a peaked helmet. 60mph was quite pleasant with no screen.

Had a quick run out this morning and can confirm the Husky screen works really well (wearing my Nexx XD1 peaked helmet) up to silly speeds for an enduro bike :thumb

So what do you do on a wet and miserable Thursday?

Strip all the plastics off the bike and then take your time over fitting a graphics kit :D

Going to leave the plastics inside at room temperature to make sure the adhesive has cured before refitting tomorrow.

Whilst I had the front mud guard off drilled 2 small drain holes to front of the mounting bracket as mucky water aways collects here and will corrode the fixings.

I've thought about doing that on my 701 and my FE several times, but figured the holes will just fill up with crap and I'll be back where i started. I was staring at my FE guard only yesterday and thought about it again, but just splurged some ACF50 on the screw heads. Please do let us know if you find the holes work.

The graphics look good BTW. I don't think I have the patience for a whole kit. I just have the Husky *H* on the side panels to break up that big patch of white.

Will do - although it is easy enough to poke something through the holes it they do get filled with crap.

Looks good Paul, you could offer a fitting service on wet winter days.

Happy to give anyone a hand - found it quite therapeutic :)

All plastics back on the bike and pleased with the result - 701 now way too clean for a dirt bike :augie
