The HP2 Sport has landed

Final drive slider seems to be more important. As my bike slided nicely on right side at flat road, it still damaged rear:

Front was fine.

PB - glad you´re enjoying it - the plank ain´t that bad when u get used to it. I drove across Spain in the rain, stopping as little as possible & didn´t get a numb bum. They all popback - quite normal. The mirrors are terrible but I just put my left forearm on the tank to see properly - guess it´s more difficult driving on the left. Anyway keep posting your impressions. I don´t subscribe but so far the forum has alowed my pictures. Try again - love to see your pics. Rgds Tony:Motomartin

rg's

hi all
today its rained all day on and off , so just had to look at the bike ,whaaaaa :(. eka ,don't think even a rg swing arm protector would have saved the swing arm , your poor bike went half on half off the pavement in the tunnel didn't it ? . from previous offs the protectors save a low speed spill but anything over 30 mph it is going for a hard time unless it end up in a ball pool .. the rear protector pushes in and then a allen bolt pulls tight in a tapered sleeve . think at speed it would pull out . i did not find the oil that i could smell last night when i got home ,time will tell eh .before work today fitted the axle sliders on the front ,hopefully stops grounding the fork legs and calipers , don't fancy buying a radial brake caliper if i bin it . after having the seat off today ,there is nothing to stop any water going everywhere under the seat over the electrics and battery connections ,emm needs something like a rubber flap discretely hidden away .. . also adjusted the footrests down a little ,got legs like a spider ,be able to use the axle sliders not as highway pegs ,:blast. so roll on the good weather next week to do a few blasts .

planks for a seat

hi chispitas
yeah the seat is not to bad ,spoilt using the gs . the aprilia factory had a hard seat to, quite like them firm ,feels race bred instead of a tourer ,be quite happy with a bit of foam ,like a harris i used to own and ride 25 years ago .that was a cool machine in its day , still give a lot of modern stuff a hard time .. . got to do something about those mirrors they are dangerous ,don't think i got fat arms and body just yet .
cheers for now pb:clap

pic

hi sfarson
what a pic eh , roads are good by the looks of things , did notice on your bike , it has reflectors on the fork legs ,and the turn indicators are the large type . i guess that you have a nice small plate being in the states while here i have a barn door on the back :(. you are right in saying the bike is very special indeed . i had a big grin for sure when i got back home . the handling is superb and can't wait for it to be run in ...i am wondering what it will handle like on much larger throttle openings .for the small miles that i have done i am happy with the bike , paranoid about dropping it on the valve covers :blast. did notice a lot of little stones going in the belly pan while riding along ,could here them pinging underneath .

. also gone to fit ..... a battery lead .

Remember that's the bike uses a Canbus system si if you want to charge it with the battery in place you need to fit the BMW power socket and get the BMW charger.

I had the power socket fitted at the first service last week - about £40 and they did the labour for free - it takes about an hour as the tank has to come off.

Otherwise you'll need to disconnect the battery if you want to use an Optimate or the equivalent.

i picked her up on friday did 30 mile weather wasnt great but dry. my first impressions is wow what a bike . the first thing i noticed how light it is . the sound it makes. the handling, i have done nothing but look at it since i got home sad i know but the engineering of it is top class.
i asked the shop (rainbow) to change the tyres to 2cts they were no problem just had to wait for them being delivered and installed .
i got the hugger this morning from sandbar installed that it looks awesome. i have booked it in with a company that fits venture shield the protective covering it goes friday.
hopefully the weather will be good on sunday cant wait to get some miles under my belt

I use an optimate with no problem. Lead is connected direct to the battery & taped to the frame tube. I don't have any problems..:Motomartin

lead ??

hi zzrman
think the charging is a problem if you go straight into a socket on the bike ,then you need the proper charger, bmw one ...
i have a optimate 3 on the gs and a datatool on the old r1200s ,now on the hp2 . i have had no problems with it apart from riding over the thing on the garage floor .
cheers pb :beerjug:

Well done. I only managed 160. I know how you feel. Congrats:)

Hey you lucky beggers. Its been a lovely sunny days today and all you new HP2S owners have been out having fun.

Me? I’ve been out with my mates on there sports bikes…not on my HP2S…no.
I’ve had to ride my GSA, because I’m still waiting for my belly pan to be fixed.:comfort
Yeah I know I could ride without it, but its just not right.:nenau

Still at least my mates had a chance to keep up with me for change:augie:toungincheek

bike

hi rubin &yonkyo& zzrman
well just been to work on the bike today ,longest way of course, been cloudy but dry ,, gravel everywhere ,emm. the bike is starting to loosen up and brakes bedding in ,i am sure it has got louder ,not really bothered about that ,can get as loud as it likes,,been also a lot of back firing off throttle around 2400 rpm and 2600 rpm also around 2200 there is a few pops ,sounds quite good. been getting a lot of oil type smells coming off it when i have stopped ,smells like gear oil ? .no visible leaks that i can see , maybe air filter. the dash is great to mess around with.so far pleased with the bike .lovely and light with hardly any fuel in .:)

hi rubin
forgot to say 999 eh ,good motor, sounds great with termis on .they go like a mad after 7000rpm how doe's it compare to the hp2. would be nice to ride each one for a hour then compare.
pb:)

I used to get a wiff of oil from my HP2S’s when it was new. I’m also getting the same smell from my new 1200GSA. It’s just a boxer engine ‘new-ness’ smell;). It disappears and after about a 1000 miles.:thumb

The exhaust does get louder with time, which is nice. :clap

I’ve also disconnected the exhaust power valve. The engine feels much more lively now right through the rev range:confused::eek:, and I’m now having trouble keeping the front wheel down when accelerating in 1st gear. :clap
