The Next Best Bike in The World Ever......Thread :-)

My 1290 is euro 4 and it ain't strangled like em figures.

6hp ain't even worth the ferry crossing

Thought you had a Superduke ?

Different tune so not really comparable .

And if you've not had it on the dyno, how do you know it ain't strangled,as you put it ?

It was definitely worth the ferry crossing for me-look at the graph !

Ok,129 peak power is lower than I was expecting but it was almost too fast before the tune .

It now makes peak power almost 2000rpm earlier where it's usable and it makes 20 bhp more than before where most people (like me) spend most of the time .

But if you live at 9000 rpm then,no,save the boat fare, though your bike would be slightly different as it ain't a Super Adventure !

!

GT, Euro 4 and it's been on dyno'd

Ktm state in stock the sas is 15hp down compared to the GT but your figures suggest is more like 25hp down on base run and your gain is very marginal, I wonder how different the engine spec is Cams ! Valves !

Strangely the sas I had out at the weekend had no fuelling issues whatsoever it's was super smooth and I was looking to fault it, however I felt it did not need anymore power so if you have eliminated any surging or snatching that your bike had than its a positive result

My bike had no surging or snatching and to be honest needed nothing. But it did feel as though it may benefit from breathing better if not bound by Euro4 emissions.

As the re-map has shown, the power gains between 3 and 6000 are rather good, with gains of more than 20bhp and similar in torque.

I really didn't need any more top end.

I'm happy with my 950 Super Enduro which would probably struggle to crack 90 bhp on the dyno,so 129 is great,as it's the midrange I'll be using .

May well be tempted by a GT next year, assuming they integrate the TFT dash and all that goes with it .

Your new power graph is fake. That line is so straight I reckon it was hand drawn with a ruler.

The mid range torque gain is down to them having the back brake on for the first run.

Ktm spent millions getting it perfect and "shed man" with his dyno cannot improve it

:blagblah :blagblah

Say the folks who have never experienced a really nicely setup bike.

You're not competitive at all are you ..... :D

Not at all, it is not and can never be part of a hippy's DNA :)

Here's hoping your day at Geoff's goes a bit better than Arsey's and you don't end up regretting having got shot of the dynamically superior 1190 :D

Andres

Yes, lets see what the magical Wings exhaust and decat brings to the party .

Decat should be about 4bhp and the Wings ..... who knows but Giles's bike will trounce my underpowered failure of a bike

Be careful what you wish for :D

I've tried linking to a clip on FB for you but can't seem to do it......if you're on FB check out the official KTM page and at the top of the page is a clip of the Akra on a 1290 in a dyno room , sounding proper without the db killer :thumb2

Yes I've seen that .

It may sound proper but once the db killer is out it ain't going back in,as under Euro 4, the db killers are welded in and not held in with a grub screw .

Mine is loud enough as it is .

A mate has a 1290R with the db killer out and it would get on my nerves after about 10 minutes .

Arseys bike will feel like there's a girl riding it, and my bike will feel like there's a Moto gp god riding it ...

Is that Moto GP god now a fat fuck ?

I'm not sure why, but my 1190 used to pop and gurgle really loudly on the overrun, to the extent that it would get on my tits after a while!
The 1290 seems much more calmer ..
Hilltop done on mine yesterday, peak power is quite low but massive gains in the midrange and that gas pick up now feels as light and crisp as you can get ... so I'm just not interested in numbers, they ultimately mean bugger all, it's about how the bike responds in your wrist (for me) and that is now just sublime ..

Can't remember -have you got a Wings on yours ? And is your pride Dent'ed ?

I heard ktm did lots of R&D with the stock exhaust and cat set up on the 1290 to give optimum performance and removing the cat from the 1290 robs the bike of some hp and torque !

Comparing your torque figure to Arsey's does yours peak further up the rpm ?

It is interesting !

So my bike makes more peak power with just an Akra before the remap than Giles's does after remap with decat and can . Can't possibly be the Akra. I'm sure the hippy will be along soon with the answers

Why not !

Long can vs short can has always played part with end results, the manufactures design headers for specific can lengths, we then fook around because aesthetically it looks better with short, however what happens to back pressure !

longer system = more hp less tq in theory
shorter system = more tq and less hp in theory.

Tis just a guess tho

Well according to some, Akras are shite.
But then Geoff at Hilltop said they always get the best results with an Akra. How strange

Mark & Geoff said when I was there last month that the new dyno may under read while it's bedding in. I'm booked for early July, so that'll give them enough time to get it working properly!:P

So, like Arsey you now have a similar mid range to a Hilltop'd 1190, lovely fuelling like a Hilltop'd 1190 & peak power that is well down on a Hilltop'd 1190.............

Poor Cato will be turning in his grave :D :D :D

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :blast

Andres

PS Aresy, I've never said Akra's are shite, well not performance wise (although they don't add anything to the performance), they just LOOK shite :D

It's disappointing that the bikes seem so far away from the manufacturers claimed power , regardless of the emissions restrictions......wow
