And don't get confused about rigs. Rigs explore and exploit then platforms, FPSO's etc then produce the goods, many platforms with a drilling facility built in. So rig counts only go so far to explaining activity.
And for oil companies and oil service companies whilst North Sea activity has reduced in certain areas, it has, largely, been replaced by overseas work for North East based companies. Aberdeen (area) is a pretty healthy work place these days - thank fukc

Much as I like Scotland (and my sister married someone from Scotland) it is a place that most English don't give a second thought to. That said, I would vote for an independant England, free of the burden of subsidising the Scots and pissing their third rate banks and politicians back to Scotland and out of England.
Oh, and on a different subject while I am here: where and when is the best time for driving up this winter and seeing the Northern Lights?

Just the standard view here in Englandshire really. Scotland is very important to Scottish people, which is what you would expect but not very important to English people. Except for the banks and politicians who are generally fecking useless. Anyway, more importantly, advice on where and when to see the Northern Lights?
