There's a road in Morocco !!!

Like it Neil :thumb I imagine a night alone in the desert has probably changed you forever..... :mmmm ....where to next time ?

Bloody good do............ :thumb

I  'd a few times waiting for the twists and turns in that tale

When you said you'd had to spend the night by the bike we had visions of you sleeping rough, didn't realise you had the luxury of a tent, sleeping bag, stove, chicken dumplings, etc!

Nice one though. Did you star gaze?

at least he gave him the box.... he was handin' them out singly before that :D

Was there any left in the box he gave away?

How many boxes should I take to 'do' all of Africa? Say 5 months worth? ... 4 a day wot ... 30 in a box .. (reminds me of the toilet paper calculations - 3 sheets per crap (one down, one up and one for polishing) 2 craps per day, 100 sheets per roll etc) say 1 week per box, that will be umm 20 boxes then.

Nice write up. Pity the tyres on those tar roads though. Will two rear TKCs do Africa bottom to top? I may well let you know.

Excellent write up, and brilliant photo's :bow

I as soon as i finished at work at 0700, i am off home to pack my paniers, pat the wife goodbye, kiss the dog and wave cherio to the kids, get the map out and plan my route, stop at the shop on the corner and buy a load of tic tacs, will any flavour do? .... i wish :(

Got to be back for work tonight at 2300 - will i make it

Will get round to actually going one day :bounce1

Fantastic photo's mate. I'm green with envy and no doubt the planning for our trip will take X-bootie and I many hours on many night shifts, thankfully all paid for with tax payers money. One day eh!

Hotel Fint in Quarazate I think. Did you get to use the swimming pool? Fantastic, can't wait to get back there.

Fantastic roads around Quarazate in every direction.

Yes, Hotel Fint. Room 208.
Nice hotel, i passed several good hotels, but needed something special to treat myself after the desert night .

Good Stuff any more? :thumb

Yes - the day after the desert, i was stopped from going over the Atlas mountains to Marrakesh, due to heavy overnight snow the road was closed. They did let me through, but the road was "fun". Stuck in desert sand one day, and snow the day after  - i'll post the pictures of the "road of snow" later :D

The tent is a single skin kids fun tent - no inner and outer flysheet, just one single layer, that a sharp bladed arab hunting knife would slice through without any resistance, especially at night in the desert, the cold desert, the cold silent desert, where no one hears you scream. ;) and your kidneys feel so vulnerable.

As much as the thought warms the cockles of my heart ( and elsewhere ), there was no phone signal :D

ohhh my gawd, it's been snowing - not too good a picture, facing into the sun on the self timer

Spot on Steptoe, great pic`s. Talk about wet the apitite,I can`t wait to get there in october.
Must get earning those browny points. Now where did i put that paint brush?

Left Quarazate after an excellent nights sleep, and a huge breakfast. But missed the taste of fear and the edge that sleeping in the desert and the thought of being stabbed in the kidneys gives you.

I'll have to watch the dulled senses that easy living can bring on.

Headed towards Marrakesh, and another 5 star hardcore hotel. The road is good. I'm in relaxed mode. soaking up the visuals.

When this appears !!!! WTF is this all about ?

Thought of "Deliverence" flashed through my mind - Does Morocco have hillbillies ?

Had a wander around, but no one about

Since found out, it's left over from a film set, " the hills have eyes", out this year.

Heading for the Atlas mountains, and i was told the road had been closed due to heavy overnight snow.
Arrived just as they were debating to open it, they let me through. "It should be clear by now" .

It was clear, sort of. Until the highest part. If you stuck to the single tyre track, no matter what side of the road it was, it was clear .

Onward, onward, going down the other side was good, a cleared road .

We're on the road to Marrakesh - as "Simon and Garfunkle" sang

I don't know - sand in your ring piece one day, freeze your nuts off the next.

Great write up and pics steppers... :D :D
