I am a happy owner of a 2003 F650 GS.
Got about 13000 Km on it so far without a problem.
The bike is cheap to run, nimble and easy to handle.
The only drawbacks, in my opinion, are a little bit of lack of power (if compared to bigger engines only, of course), a horrible gearbox noise when operating the lever and some vibrations over 120/130 kmh.
Since I was thinking about getting some gear (panniers, protections and so on) and since these things are quite expensive, I was wondering myself whether to get a bigger bike to keep for very long time and investing on this "final" one, rather then spending cash on expensive optionals that would get lost in case of selling.
Question is....keeping and upgrading or changing?
Choices at present would be between the 1200GS and the 1150GS Adv., altough I have heard there should be a 1200 Adv. coming up shortly.
I would be looking for a bike to keep for years, sturdy and rugged, capable to substain heavy duty rides also.
