throttle cables

Asd far as I remember, BMW cables should NOT be oiled.

I'm looking at changing mine as both have slight kinks in them

I can't see how a little bit of rubber sleeving would do much to prevent kinking.
Wouldn't hurt to fit them though to keep dirt out.

I've fitted some Venhill Featherlight cables to my 100gs and seems the inner cable is about 1cm too long compared to standard, meaning there is very little adjustment left at the carb end, screw is nearly fully out. Has anyone else had similar problems ?

On the 3rd set of cables and finally happyness

1st set, advertised by a company that has Moto in it's name but isn't based in Yorkshire claims: R100GS 1988 ON. R100R 1993 ON (BMW OE) SIZE 1190mm TOTAL INNER CABLE LENGTH. 1093mm TOTAL OUTER CABLE LENGTH INC. ADJUSTER. p/n 35495. Loads of play in the throttle

2nd set, advertised by a well know German company that makes 800 to 1000cc conversion kits claims Throttle cable right (40 mm carburetor) R100GS, R100R, R100 Mystic Total lenght: 1180 mm (cover: 1065 mm) and
Throttle cable left (40 mm carburetor) R100GS, R100R. R100R mystic Total lenght: 1145 mm (cover: 1030 mm) they do fit, but if the cable stretched 1mm then there's be no more adjustment

3rd set, bought from Motorworks, claim: Throttle cable left hand (R100GS pre 1990 R80GS/R 1991 onwards) | CAA58090A and Throttle cable right hand (R100GS pre 1990 R80GS/R 1991 onwards) | CAA58090B and they fit, have negligible throttle play, loads of adjustment left.

Least I have had plenty of practice throttle balancing
