I'm having a 6k service on my R1200GS 08 model soon and I asked the dealer if they could lower the tickover but they told me that was not possible. Apparently something to do with computers.

It's just a personal preference but I like a tickover at least below a 1,000 revs.

Is what they are telling me correct ? Ok it's not a big deal but I am still curious.

The stepper motors are programmed to keep the tickover steady at somewhere above 1100rpm, I believe. Going off the experience of the 1150, if the tickover gets below 1000 the engine is very prone to stalling, usually just as the throttle is opened to pull away.

They're telling the truth, tickover is preset and non adjustable at 1150+ or - 50 rpm (1100-1200).
