Tobinators with stock GS screen

Now I'm commuting more and more, with summer on it's way I want to reduce the buffeting on the M3 blast.

I've gone back to the GS stock screen for my 2006 vintage, I had a NN High & Wide for touring. But it's odd, maybe it's psychological but I find the stock screen much easier for filtering in traffic. :nenau - More visibility perhaps. Less plastic in front of me.

I've been searching threads and heard good things about Tobinators. I was looking at adding something like this:

But I think Tobinators might do a better job?

I'm 6ft5, has anyone else got them fitted with stock GS screen?

I tried one of these with the stock screen (i'm 6'1") and didn't find it made a difference. I fitted a Givi AF330 and what a difference. I have the screen on its lowest setting, no turbulence and silence from wind noise when riding.

Thanks. Guess I just need to splash more cash. I might sell my other screen to help pay for it.

Torbinators are fraction of the price though, so be good to know if they would also solve it.
 
I did the same. Except I had Tobinators pre the Givi screen so used them too. It gives the Givi loads of positions and I have never used it without the Tobs.
However, a small mishap on a muddy track and I have smashed the bottom half of the Givi. Put the stock screen back with the Tobs and it is okay for now. But like the others have said - the Givi is great. At 6.5" the Tobs will make a fair difference with the stock screen to be fair.

The only way to get rid of buffeting is to either sit behind a barn door or get your head in the clear air. I use tobinators on the stock GS screen, set them about a third of the way up from the bottom and stock screen in it's lowest position, head and shoulders in the wind...absolutely no buffetting!

If you decide to go the Givi Airflow route I have one, it's as new, in the box in my garage, will do you a deal on it tunnie.
 
I'm 5ft 8ins normal proportions and find the Givi AF330 is good but even better with Tobinators. Mine is set low at back and about 1/3 up at front.

Normal m-way appends the top is about 1/2 way. Filtering I put it right down and at private road speeds it's also better down. I'm not tall enough to sit above the airflow but having it too high causes more turbulence and noise.
 
I'm 5'9" and the standard screen on high, with the low seat, is very quiet and free of buffeting. The standard seat puts me in a turbulent air flow but I like the riding position better so tried Toobinators, these are an improvement for me but my visor is in the air flow now and, unlike with the low seat, I get all the insect world splattered on my visor. I can live with this and will stay with a standard screen on high setting, with Toobinators.
 
I might have a set of Tobinators from my old 2004 bike kicking around in the garage, I'll have a dig around after work tomorrow and see if I can find them.
 
Hi, not had my 07 GS all that long and i'm interested in the positive comments on the A330 screen. Whilst im pretty ok with the standard screen, the Mrs is'nt that keen on the windblast etc. Can anyone give me any feedback on the screen (and tobinators) from a passengers point of view. I'm desperately trying to get her comfortable on the GS before she makes me keep the Harley (mega expensive ornament)

Right. Thanks to Pukmeister I have a set of these. Just fitted them, dead easy. I've put them on the 4th "dip" from the bottom.

I'm 6ft5, so head is up in the air. Any suggestions a for good setting?

I'm taking the Allen keys to adjust it at work after my morning ride in. But like to hear views of any one elses experience with stock GS screen.

Doing research, the 'standard' settings work well. Is there a digital copy of the fitting instructions anywhere?
 
So had my first ride up the M3 today with them. WOW is all I can say, huge, huge improvement. Sat in the 50mph average section, it was quieter than normal. But I would only really know after nailing the throttle at the M25.

So gave it some large up to 80mph, practically not buffeting. There is still noise, but the movement and loud noise around the head area is gone. Much, much easier to cruise at the higher speed.

I brought some allen keys to adjust it, but not sure if I should go up the adjuster rail or down? Lowering my head slightly did see an improvement. (seat is on high setting) So guessing lower on the rail, as that would make it tad more vertical? Although that would reduce the gap.

I remember having these and all it did was double the number of adjustments and the amount of fiddling I tried, before finally ditching the standard screen. I prefer it without, so had a flyscreen for a long while then went to a low screen which I still have. The only time I miss having the screen now is on a long motorway blatt and I avoid those if I can.
 
By allowing air to flow beneath the screen at speed it fills the low pressure area behind it and reduces the turbulence. It worked a treat on my old '04 GS but isn't necessary on my '08 GSA.
