Looking to get power into an aftermarket topbox. Anyone come across a connector that will fit the GS1300 luggage power sockets? Was thinking of running a power extension into topbox from Topbox power socket.

Was looking for the same thing.

I ran a fused 2-core lead from my battery (R1250GS) back under the seat to a 2-pin socket which I fitted to a plate under the rack. I can charge the battery via this, but normally, I have the top-box plugged in.

I 3-D printed a box to contain an eBay twin USB supply and a switch, and a cover to stop water getting in where the wire enters the box. I arranged it so I could charge my phone or the helmet intercoms on my Ireland trip last year.

Can post pix if anyone wants

I appreciate that you can run a power cable from the battery but I was looking to use the power outlet that is already there on the rear rack. Looks like there isn’t a connector adapter out yet.

Sure, I don’t have a 1300, and I wanted a charging socket (given the useless OE battery…) and I can plug my compressor in there too.

The advantage of a built-in socket, I assume, is that it turns off when you switch the bike off, like the dashboard socket on the 1250. I have to make sure my USB adaptor is turned off with a switch.

I’d be surprised if you can’t buy a plug if there’s a socket?

How does the top box connect to the power source - does it connect automatically when placing the topbox

Sorry but how? It’s an integral part of the 1300 GSA top box so not sure if would come as a spare part. Maybe I am wrong and haven't checked it closely enough..
I do like the power socket (USB C) and charges my phone from dead to 100% in about an hour. Also like the LED white light which makes a difference in the dark

The top box is aluminium - the connector is plastic - so it cannot be manufactured as a single unit.

It has to be two separate items and then assembled

If the connector got damaged then perhaps the connector can be purchased rather than having to replace the whole top box.

Hence it may be available - i will ask at a dealer.

Ahh ok. Understood. Let us know as I see the point now and it makes sense. So basically if the connector can be easily replaced if accidentally damaged without having to buy a whole new top box. Or side pannier for that matter…
