Was away this week with Lyndon (owner) of Toro trails at his base in Malaga.
4 of us planned 4 days riding bikes but the weather was unusually awful cold with heavy rain. 3 out of the 4 days were workable but having spent the 2 previous days soaked the 4th had to be cancelled completely as the thunder didn't let up. As they say better a bad day on the bike than a good day in the office.
Since moving into the new accommodation (very comfortable) in September last year, Lyndon is improving it further with the addition to the pool a hot tub and other luxuries to make the stay even more comfortable.
On the 1st day we were fully kitted out with new gear right out of the box and Yamaha Wr250 enduro bikes (new ones WR250F for experienced which I am not) note: bring with you long socks, camelbak and well padded cycling shorts or the padded motorcross shorts would be even better.
I had no idea what to expect thought it might be a rumble round the dirt roads holding back for a wee of a power up. I am happy to say I was totally wrong what a blast.
Day 1 out onto the road we then nipping along the side of fields up to the hills inland from the coast. Arriving there the day was spent running around the trails and tracks making some steep ascents and descents running along tight and narrow tracks round canyons etc. Day 2 and 3 the same allowing me to hone my off-road skills. The only metalled road riding was to access another area.
Extras were beers at the accommodation and dinner (the staff take you out to local restaurants all good covering all tastes).
I found all the staff good craik keeping us entertained and helpful for the duration of our stay.
I plan on going back (80% of his guests are repeat customers) with the little more experience I now have I hope to sign up with the trips he offers to the lakes and ski resorts kicking off from the base.
Toro Trails have a number other options available with trail riding trips in Morocco. There are future plans including the introduction of guided trail riding on adventure bikes, fully planned and booked self guided adventure bike hire with sat nav routes made up and pre booked accommodation around Southern Spain and Portugal.
I am not in anyway associated with Toro trail - I had a great time and wanted to share, please feel free to contact me if you want information or questions.
