Tour Of Scotland

Hi Yodagoat

Hope the occupant's of the wee car on the road from Lochinver to Newton weren't to badly hurt, we passed it on the 22nd Aug parked up at the scene of the accident.

Enjoyed the ride report and photo's

Schultz

Really good report, sounds like you had a tepid time.

Just one thing, please don't tell me you camped out for all that time or you really will shatter my illusions of what a ball ache camping really is.

B&B some nights, pub anoter ...then a camp, please tell me I am right or I'll have to consider doing it again just to see if it really was that uncomfortable sleeping on the ground for more than one night.
yes I am an old git :rob

Great write up there. That's almost the self same trip we did this year in May, only we went the opposite way and in only 4 days, so we had less time to admire the views you've takenm so many photographs of.

We did:

Oban ==> isle of Mull ==> Lochcarron ==> Tongue ==> Dunnet Head ==> John O'groats ==> Lybster ==> Edinburgh

Total of Bang on 1400 miles home to home.

You're right as well, you can't miss out on riding in your own country before setting sail for foreign lands.

Shultz - I think everyone was OK. there was no damage on the inside of the car. I think the crumple zone did its job.

Shaggy - Fcuk me!! That is nearly the same spot. Great minds think alike!! I look forward to reading your report. who knows, maybe we did pass each other. I'm glad the weather held out for you and I'm glad you enjoyed Scotland.

Bannanaman - I really did camp for all the trip apart from four nights. The secret is this

Search e bay for similar things. I paid £30 for mine delivered I cannot praise them enough. A totally comfy warm nights sleep. I'll try it again later in the year and see how it copes with colder weather, but everyone who goes campin should have one.*

Eastriding2002 - Glad you enjoyed my pics. I hope your trip was as fun as mine.

*Keep in mind the fact that I'm 25. If you are old you may seize if you have a crap sleeping bag or roll of the mat when you are asleep.

that's a cracker pic

just read your report and saw the pics.this is why its gods country, looks as if you had a a ball

What a brilliant read really has whet my appetite, vango tempest tent now on order!!

just wondering yodagoat, what is that highlander-sel thing you referred to I am presuming it is dry sack or similiar that you put sleeping bag in?, or am I totally wrong???

thanks for a brill read

Inversnaid bunkhouse now closed- they've converted it into a house for themselves.

Smart move- looks a cracking place.

the highlander thing is a thermalite, a sort of cheap thermarest. Do a search on e bay for one, they really make a difference when you are camping.

Its a shame about the Inversnaid bunkhouse closing, that hot tub was awesome!!

Braw stuff

Brilliant write up. Brought back many happy memories of trips I'd done back in Scotland. Superb photos too. Keep it up ;)

The secret is out .........damn you all!!!!

I have been touring this route twice a year for the last 7 or 8 yrs.....

I live an easy days ride from Ullapool ( the weirdest place on the west coast)

Bah! :(

Mate that was ace, well done...something I meant to do myself this year but had the wrong bike to do it on (repsol fireblade). Got the GS 1200 now and already making preparations for next years tours.

Will be putting big invite out for everyone who wants to come along in Spring.

Well done

Chas
