when i was there, they were prepared to fit panniers for you if they had time.

I haven't bought anything TT, and not likely too, unless they do something i reaaly need and no-one else does (which is highly unlikely i'm sure....)

What a Shower of B@stards......:nono

Ordered a Touratech Tankbag (smallest day bag version) this morning at 10-10am,transaction completed and in my hand at 10.13am :clap faultless service-absolutely brilliant, cannot fault them in any way :bow

I was in the area so I called in on the offchance that they might have what I wanted in stock-and blow me down.........................................:D

Day bag for R1200GS costs £69.77 at TT UK. TT DE charge 83 euros or about £57.50. That's a £12 difference or about 20%

At least you saved on postage!!!!

I checked on the price of the same item on various distributors via the TT website. To allow for the different VAT rates I calculated the costs net of vat, without shipping and the results are as follows:

Netherlands € 437.97 £ 298.09
Germany € 425.21 £ 289.41
Spain € 437.97 £ 298.10
Italy € 438.80 £ 298.66
France € 437.97 £ 298.09
Austria € 437.97 £ 298.09
UK € 531.84 £ 361.98

Now this just puts the phone call I had from TTuk into perspective. As nice as Neil was, he's obviously just towing the party line, blaming the government, UK rates, the weather.............. He almost had me convinced they weren't such bad guys at all. But this is just so wrong.
Maybe Nick Plumb should consider doing the Dakar on a Honda 50 to save us some money. :augie

South Wales, as nice a place as it is, does not have the highest property/bussiness costs in the uk
There is no way that it costs 20% more to operate from South Wales than the rest of Europe - therefore NP is simply trying to rip us off :spitfire

But the point is not that UK prices are higher than elsewhere in the UK. UK suppliers are free to charge whatever we're stupid enough to pay. There's no law to protect us from being stupid enough to keep paying inflated prices.

What's illegal is that TT in Germany are refusing to sell their goods to a private individual from the UK.

One of the reasons for this country joining the EC is that there should be no restriction in cross-border trade and TT are flouting this.

The point is there is only one UK supplier for TT gear who is over-charging UK customers for the same items that people elsewhere in Europe can buy for a lesser price, and those UK citizens being denied the opportunity of buying from Europe direct.

Seems like TT UK are getting very special treatment indeed! :spitfire

I think I'd jack my prices up too if I had a never ending supply of idiots prepared to pay over the odds.
As Cookie said just don't buy it.
Simple really.

here here!!!!!or just go to germany and get it, for a quick blast, or combine the collection with a beer festival, and bring the panniers back full of beer!!!

i went 2 tt today it was good, very friendly good coffee and had all we wanted in stock, and anything that np didnt have was 7 to 10 days he promisd!

Sounds fine to me - if you're close enough to TT to pick up what you want then you're quids in. Unfortunately, for most people in the UK, that means getting the ferry to Germany

I waited in vain for 3 weeks some panniers from TTUK. I then happened to be going to Germany, called TT direct and they had them in stock so I cancelled TTUK's order and saved myself a load of cash. I don't object to paying a reasonable amount for a prompt shipping service but TTUK are taking the pi$$ and won't be getting any orders from me in the future. Good luck with any complaints to the European Commissars but I think they'll be too busy filling out their expenses claims to be of any use.

I've just taken delivery of my TT crashbars which I got through Thunder via a friend in the Rep of Ireland (thanks, mate :thumb2 ). I saved a nice little wedge of money and as a previous reply by the man himself, they came in 7 days. Best of all, I didn't give my custom to Nick (your cash) Plumb.:dabone

Thanks for the heads-up chaps that puts TT-UK on my poor dealer list and I for one will not be buying anything from them in the future.

Also the thought of the Touratech UK Managing Director gloating at the BAHNSTORMER 29th September-Open day thingy puts me off attending the open day :thedummy

Dear Mr McMaster

My name is Jonathan Robertson, I am an assistant for Alyn Smith MEP.
First of all thank you for letter regarding concerns over the company
Touratech. I have been looking into your case and have been on the
Touratech website. On the site there is a section saying:

"If our importer has no internet shop yet (Belgium, Greece, Canada,
Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Republic of South Africa,
Slowaki republic) then order by using Other EU countries or Rest of
the world. The orders will be forwarded automatically. The Prices
might vary depending on currency and local taxes."

Each individual member state has its own level of VAT that could lead
to such discrepancy in prices with regards the UK distributor and the
German distributor. As you can see on their website it does state "The
Prices might vary depending on currency and local taxes."

What I suggest you do is get back in contact with the German
distributor, preferably by email so you have a note of it in writing,
as to why they will not distribute from the German offices. Before we
could look further into this case we need to have an official
explanation from the distributor as to the reasons behind their
actions to see if they are contravening any EU legislation. Once you
get some additional information if you could get back in contact and
we can reasses the situation.

Regards

Jonathan Robertson

Good old SNP:thumb

I can see TT DE not answering any emails about this subject ever again. I would have thought the MEP could ask the question himself....................
