Just fitted new tyres... and the rear valve stem/TPS unit is leaking from the seal.. Nipped it up and it seems to have stopped but would like to know the correct torque setting for the unit if anyone can point me in the right direction :thumb

It's been nipped up .... not fell to bits yet.... so I'll leave it until tomorrow morning and check the pressure again :thumb

From the manual its tighten to 12Nm then slacken then re-tighten to 12Nm. Locktite 243 on the thread.

When I changed a battery in mine I gave the seal a very thin coating of red rubber grease beforehand and just nipped it up so it was snug but not overly tight. Holding its pressure well.

Thanks for that ... I may let it down, loosen it off, do the red rubber grease thing, then re tighten/inflate again

IIRC there is a rubber grommet under the nut. Could be that it's had it? You used to have to buy a whole new unit before but I'm pretty sure you can now buy just a new nut and rubber washer. Might be worth checking with your local dealer as well as the mends suggested above.:thumb2

Thanks for that... Just checked and the tyre has stayed up overnight.... I'll keep an eye on it and check out your suggestion :thumb

New units don't come with a nut anyway - you have to re-use the old one.

Thanks for the input chaps... took the wheel back to my tame spanner monkey.... he took the tyre off again, and made sure the valve/monitor unit was seated correctly and torqued up as it should be .... then put the tyre back on again, hopefully all is now well :thumb

This is what you want (I nicked it off Max BMW's microfische)

Ta for that... the old one has been re-seated and seems to be ok now...... but at least I can see what I need should it go tits up again

Exactly what I did with mine a year ago. I also rechecked the nut when tyre pumped up and it took a little more of a turn. But I used way below 12Nm. That just seemed too risky to me.
