Track Day Tyres

As the title suggests I'm after recommendations not on tyre life, but simply on what are generally thought to be the grippiest GS size tyres that can manage the mass of the bike (& rider..)?

I'm planning to use the GS for some light track action and am pretty sure the OE Anakees can be improved upon.

Any tyre will do. You will scrape the foot pegs and centre stand before you run out of tyre. Been there, done it.

I ride on track quite a lot, but not on something quite the mass of the GS.

It's a fun few days a year with some buddies, so rather than getting yet another bike I'm going to have a laugh I hope on the GS.

It's a GS on a trackday, one needs to keep it real and I doubt a set of supercorsas will really make that much of a difference.

Almost any tyre will do. Limit is the rider generally.
I've done two trackdays with Dunlop Trailsmart on a 2007 1200GS Adventure and they were excellent all considered. Especially on the wet (I've done a trackday in the rain with the GS at Cadwell, left the HP safe in the van that day).
Your brakes might get stressed more than the tyres on an heavy GS. But maybe the situation improved on more recent GSs.

On a dry day the Trailsmarts started being a bit squishy (bike wobbling left/right a bit) when braking at the end of the straight, but I was expecting that given the weight of the bike (and mine...).

If you are buying specifically though: Metzler 01 come in GS sizes.

Also, there is some seriously quick people riding GSs on track out there.

(1150gs ) tourances old ones not ,next , only ever touched a peg once , but scrape crashbar bolts under cylinder ( sw motech )

just go out and ride as fast as you are comfy with ....it isn't a race.

Think also about renewing your brake pads in due course, as hauling up that mass, if your are going for it, will soon wear them down.

I did a trackday a couple of years ago. Bike all “track ready” and i thought i was Kevin Schwantz.
The instructor came past me, sitting side saddle, pointing at what i should be doing and then shot off (on a 400cc honda).
I felt like throwing my keys down the drain

I've managed a whopping 650 miles since new in October so wearing stuff out is just fine..

What track you thinking of doing? I instruct on TD’s and have raced most of the UK’s circuits, so I can probably give you a bit of guidance.
I also love taking the GSA on track in the right conditions and having a bit of fun!

M9RR as a few others have said. Road 5 is ok but is not a track tyre
