I am buying a 1250 GSA with a Datatool tracker fitted. I Live in Hampshire and sometimes ride into London for work where I always park in an underground secure garage. Is it worth me paying the £109 a year for Scorpion to track my new toy or is it simply not worth the money?

I suppose like a crash helmet, the one time you need it and it works for you its paid for itself!

I got a bigger discount on my insurance from having one than the cost of the tracker... complete no brainer from that perspective...

I’ve got one on both of my bikes and very impressed so far.

Yes, had trackers on my last two bikes. Great for piece of mind. :beerjug:

It's obviously not physical and visible security, but the moment my bike moves I get a text if my fob isnt with it which I love when parking in random places like hotels etc.

EMB.

No

I had one on my Multistrada because it was free but it was a PITA

And for me if it gets nicked i dont really want it back, sooner take the cash and get a new one rather than having a bike that some scrote has ragged around

Chain it up properly and keep it rather than lose it and get it back

Thanks all. Consensus seems to be its a good investment. Its already fitted so may as well benefit from it.

They are a PITA but even if you don't get your motorcycle back, the tracker will provide an incontrovertible audit trail to your insurers should a claim be necessary.

Although my V4R was never recovered the Biketrac audit trail made the claim process so much easier.

I have a BikeTrac one fitted to my bike at £99 a year.

In addition to the security it provides as outlined above, and the reduction in insurance, there is also the added advantage of being able to look back on the maps of previous journeys on your computer and so often, just working out where I went wrong and took a wrong road!!

Got one on my Honda Goldwing and ones coming on the new 2023 Goldwing I ordered. Yes, you can get a nice discount on the insurance - personally, I'd like to think I could track the bike to the thieves' layer and exact revenge :)

No issues with the one on my 2021 GSA. It never flattens the bikes battery and if I forget to have the fob close, it sends an instant text message if I move the bike. I find it peace of mind for when I leave the bike when out and about, especially when on tour.
As an added bonus, Datatool have added an extra 9 months of subscription on top of the standard 12 months. I don't personally find it reduces my insurance premium. In fact this year, I've not declared it to my insurance broker.

I probably wouldn't want a stolen bike back BUT it might help finding a garage full of stolen bike bits and get someone locked up or even better end up in a chase where the bike thief expires in a fiery inferno or under the front of a 40 ton truck or even better BOTH

If you don't get your bike back, you will be paying alot more for the next few years

Interesting about Insurance discounts. Things must have moved on, a couple of years ago when I was considering a tracker for my bike, the insurance company said the discount was about £20, so wasn't worth the investment.

It made no difference to my premium and the BMW tracker just drained the battery in less than a fortnight.
