I asked for a quote for my R1200GS in trade in for a 1200GSA. It was registered Jul 05. 4300 miles. ABS/Heated grips/alloys. Good condition. Needed a new rear tyre.

I was offered best price............. £6750!!! :tears :tears :tears

It seemed rather low. Is he right or pulling a fast one? :nenau

What deals did you other peeps get?

I believe he is right, why? because a mate got an 05 1200 10000 mile FSH alloys/abs/grips for £7250 I have seen the bike and it is mint.

Not private this was from a BM dealer, hard to believe ay,but they are out there.Sorry to pi55 on your fire.

Hi Sax
I traded my 1200GS today for a 1200 GSA mine was registerd end of June 05 it had just under 12000 miles on it Pidcocks of long eaton gave me £8000 trade in :D ,so i would shop around if i were you,the deals are there if you look around.

I was offered £8k though i have wire wheels + panniers
and just over 3k miles.

The new bike arrives in june so i'm not allowed to do many more miles :dabone
i'm sure you can do better than £6750

Find out which dealers have got customers waiting for s/hand 12GS's, then you'll get a better deal.

As there seems to be an oversupply of low mileage newish 12s for sale, then the price is likely to be low, isn't it? Supply and demand in action.

There probably aren't enough new GSAs available at the moment, either, so the dealers don't need to buy your business via a high trade-in price.

My experience of trade-ins at B*W dealers has been good, but I run my bikes for 5-6 years before trading in.

Sounds like your dealer is pulling a fast one. Check this out. Mines an Oct '04 bike with 6,500 miles. Ocean Blue, fully loaded with ABS/Grips/Alloys and a brand new back tyre. Excellent nick. I got offered £7,300 against a new GSA.

I pick up my GSA mid May, and will also try selling it privately for £8K.

Hope you can get more than that the salesman kept telling me not to worry about BMW high prices as the bikes hold there value well so you get a good trade in when you want a new bike. The missus will do her nut if when I come to trade the GS in I get a crap value. I need to keep her sweet to get a new bike next year!!

Got my new 1200 GS last weekend. Ordered it just after the New Year and my dealer offered me £7260 against my old one, June 04, 12000 miles and apart from ABS and heated grips was completely standard with all accessories removed. If I were you, change dealers or advertise privately.

If i were you i would advertise it privately and leave out the dealer - phone around all your local BMW dealers and ask for prices on used 1200's then advertise yours for £200 below there price.

Yeah but don't forget buying that BMW warranty for a year would cost £650. (reagardless of what we think it might be worth).
